Being autistic is an intrinsic part of how our brain works, equating it with the negative side effects (some of which are the result of societal prejudice to begin with) is what people find offensive, and it's impossible to "cure" unless you completely erase a person. Which means treating a cure as possible or desirable harms autistic people by spreading the idea that our core existence is an external disease, and diverting resources that should be used to actually help autistic people. Trying to find a cure is a distraction from effort that could be made to help you with the parts that are harming you.
The lobotomy was created to fix those considered mentally atypical. At least that era has passed. Be you, be kind, ignore those that judge.

It's not my intent to spread any notions like that and I don't want anyone to think that having ASD makes them "wrong". I just get annoyed when neurotypical people say that shit because it comes with the connotation that they don't want me to be able to function in social situations or live without obsessive interests ruining my life/happiness.

Wanting help with side effects or situations that are hurting you is completely fine, the issue is the wording and concept of a "cure" since autism isn't something that can be removed from a person and the things we need help with are what the focus should be on.

I'm neurotypical af but learning a lot of the basic things about how my brain processes compared to people that aren't is fucking fascinating.

I can relate with things like hyperfocus, because I can get in that zone but I can turn it off too. The concept of just not having control of that aspect is wild to me. So my understanding can only go so far and I'm only vaguely understanding concepts that you guys deal with every day.
