Well, that does almost sound like he acts like the Court members work for him...which, has to be proven wrong if the country is to have the future.

"From 1789 to 2023, no former, or current, president faced criminal charges for his official acts for good reason."

It's amazing how we had more than 200 years of presidents doing their jobs without having to invoke presidential immunity, then Trump shows up and all of a sudden the office can't function unless its holder is guaranteed immunity from criminal prosecution. We're all going to be extremely pissed when this corrupt, partisan court contorts itself to justify granting Trump what he wants.

Why would he need immunity if he "did nothing wrong?"

It is extremely scary how close we are to SCOTUS granting Trump presidential immunity and basically ending democracy in this country.

seems kind of inevitable at this point. Like its Trump's dark destiny to destroy america. Doesnt help that most of his talking points come straight from the kremlin and putin.

What's in it for the conservative justices on SCOTUS to end their own power by giving it all to Trump?

That's literally the only reason I can think of for the Sleazy Six to do the right thing in this case.

Presidents have more or less enjoyed uncodified immunity, because until now, no former president has been quite so dumb/selfish/criminal as to force the issue. Granting absolute immunity seems like such an obviously terrible decision, but I have very little faith in the current court to make the obvious choice.

Nah. They'd say it only applies to trump. Like stopping the recount of Bush v. Gore. They said it was a one time thing and not to be used to set precedent in the future.

If they could do this then when Paxton sued to overturn the election they would've just said ok

That's the opposite of what will happen. Making the president immune from all crimes is what will end the presidency.

I mean, we also went more than 200 years without a president attempting to overthrow an election because they got big mad that they lost.
