They generally don't. It's pretty damn rare and if they do get charged they very rarely go to prison and if they do go to prison it's generally because they made other even richer people lose money.

It's standard police procedure to separate the parties in domestic violence disputes even if things have calmed down. Usually means arresting someone if they have probable cause.
