You're wrong.

Adel = Edea = Rinoa = Ultimecia

@Vyrulisse

Interestingly enough, there was a video a couple years ago where Yoshinori Kitase retracts his statement on the Rinoa/Ultimecia fan theory being debunked. Basically he said other people involved in writing the plot (not him) may/could have had such intentions in their own writing.

The theory adds depth to Ultimecia's character that she sorely needs, so that'd another perk to it.

R=U always struck me as unnecessary. Ulty already had motivation for revenge in that she was unfairly persecuted as a witch in her own time period. Why jump through hoops to make her fit as Rinoa?

If we actually got to see any of this happen, Ultimecia would be a better character for it. Otherwise, she just comes off as someone who likes to use "k" instead of "c" and compress time to life forever.

Also, why didn't the party just kill Dr. Odine to prevent Junction Machine Ellone from ever being created and thus eliminating Ultimecia's ability to possess people in the past? Doing so would have ended Ultimecia's plans right then and there. Also, the dude was a scumbag who was way too much like Professor
Hojo from FF7...

Hadn't he already created the machine, and it was simply improved in the future to allow Ultimecia to control the people she projects her mind into? So killing him wouldn't erase the invention.

As we never see the device in the present and due to being talked about in a future tense, the implication was that the machine doesn't exist yet in the present timeline. Straight from the wikia...

Junction Machine Ellone is a device that exists in the distant future era in Final Fantasy VIII, though it never makes an actual appearance.

Agree. If the game itself doesn't say so, the creator missed their chance.

Interviews are always backpedal, hail maries for interest and other such bullshit.

But in this case, the fan theory doesn't work anyway so...
