In A Bug's Life, the grasshoppers led by Hopper are depicted more as an oppressive gang of bullies rather than a traditional biker gang. However, there are definitely some elements reminiscent of biker culture in their appearance and behavior, such as their tough demeanor, hierarchical structure, and the way they intimidate others.

I think they're sort of like mobsters. You get protection from us, as long as you pay us. Nevermind that ants irl regularly swarm and rip apart larger insects for food.

Yes I agree and this blending of insect and human characteristics adds depth to the portrayal of the antagonists and helps create a compelling narrative dynamic in the film.

They're bandits. A Bug's Life is literally The Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven.

The villain's name Hopper is literally a reference to Dennis Hopper who starred in the quintessential Boomer bike movie "Easy Rider". Make of that as you will.

They're fascists. Granted, considering the politics of real-life biker gangs like Hell's Angels, the two concepts might not be mutually exclusive.

I always thought of them as like an insect version of the Tunnel Snakes from fallout 3, where they're "in charge" but its so cartoonishly goofy and most of them are actually wimps deep down.
but i also saw bugs life after playing fallout 3, and idk much of anything about biker gangs besides they wear ugly clothes and most of them suck at riding motorcycles

iirc hopper makes some sort of metaphor about that in the movie, how if one ant rebels its nothing, but if all of them rebel the grasshoppers are screwed.

And the way hopper says "let's ride!"

Can't forget that, it's integral to biker gangs.

Absolutely! The phrase "let's ride!" is indeed a classic line associated with biker culture, further emphasizing the connection between Hopper and his gang to the imagery and language of traditional biker gangs. It adds another layer of authenticity to their portrayal in the film.
