Have you been?
Just once. Caught a couple 30 inchers while I was there though. Took a floatplane into... someplace called Pedro I think? I love this state so much and there is so much I haven't visited still, I try to take a small trip to a different area once a year just to experience it. Usually in the form of a fishing trip. I'm from Ketchikan originally so I grew up fishing. The last 5 years I've been going on a different charter, did Valdez, Homer, Seward, Soldotna, dip netting the Chitna. I think I was in Iliamna in 2017/18. Probably skip this year and buy some more gear so I can go ice fishing more reliably.

I've had a few dog bites, seems I'm lucky they never got too bad

Just depends on where it happens. If this guy got chomped in a meaty part of his arm or leg, it would hurt a lot, some swelling at the bite, but otherwise fine. Getting bacteria soaked fangs planted into your hands and fingers with all those nooks and crannies and tendons though
Gonna be a bacterial orgy within 12 hours.

What makes it even worse is that the fangs are designed to penetrate and extract very quickly, sealing up the wound. Meaning all that bacteria is trapped in there and a gallon of peroxide wont do anything. Which is why serious cases almost always require surgery and lengthy administration of antibiotics

This is the lake I live on in Alaska, theres a few villages with populations between 30-200 spread around the lake. No road systems here, so basically you only leave here by airplane!

Silly question.
Why would anyone live there?

Happened to me in high school. Tried to separate my dog from a dog that we had been caring for until we could find the owner. And that day, I learned the hard way that Chows have an extra row of teeth.

Made me the most hardcore person on the Marching Band, though.

I am sorry you went through that, and I mean it.

Yeah that do be looking pretty rough brother. I'd at least cover it with some neosporin and gauze, wrap that shit up.

Since it is that deep, don't use hydrogen peroxide or alcohol on it either. It'll fuck up the tissue and slow the healing.

Most of the people that live here were born here, than theres teachers in the winter that teach, and fly fisherman lodges in the summer. An absolute massive salmon run comes here in July so you can catch/filet/and freeze and live off them for the winter!

Idk, I guess its because people are used to living like this

Yeah,, the health aide said to avoid those as well. She gave me an antibiotic ointment and I have been keeping gauze on it when im not playing video games, restricts my hand movement to much smh

They hearing is going bad so I was the only one that heard them fighting. And what was I supposed to do? <_< The young one Tiger had Tar by the throat and likely would have kept going till he killed him. These dogs will attack beats so they can be ruthless

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Theyre Karelian Bear Dogs, great for defending property against just about any animal because they are very territorial. Theyre like security guards you pay in kibbles. One of them literally jumped on a grizzly bears back attacking it because it was in our yard. I cant say enough how cool these doggos usssuualllyy are

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/forum/d/d1a0a355.jpg
heres tiger boy

And I went to the village health aide, they dont have the experience of doctors or nurses, but they typically do good jobs. I felt like I was in very good hands with the lady that checked my hand out

Looks ok to me, if it were really bad it would have puffed up and gotten really red by now. But as long as its keeps improving, you should be fine. Keep it clean and keep up with the antibiotics and ointment and wrapping it. If the redness or pain increases AT ALL you should get the next flight to civilization and a hospital asap. If it keeps going down, you should be fine. Not counting any damage to the ligaments that is, I cant see that from a photo.

You must be a doctor! I appreciate all the feedback, thankyou very much sir

Final update lol, theres only some minor swelling right around the open wound now, I can move all my fingers properly, and far less pain. I was told to keep it an open wound for a week, so thats why its not scabbed over. So Ive survived and should only be left with a scar and a lesson learned. Appreciate yall
