Ass. Complete, total ass. Like 625.

I had to drop like 10k on my high interest cards to help out my mother when she got diagnosed with cancer and needed help with rent, utilities, than food, than moving...

Sigh. Does anyone have any experience with consolidation loans? Would that be worth looking into for me to start recovering?

Mine roller coasters between high 700s and low 800s entirely depending on what my credit card statement is month to month, which I pay off in full.

I'm also getting dinged for 8 hard inquiries. I was told when homebuying last year that I should search around mortgage lenders and it would only count for one hard inquiry if it's within a certain amount of time but that was apparently a lie.

Doesn't really have anything to do with generational wealth. I don't even think those with generational wealth even care about credit score.

You can easily build credit with a secured credit card to start off. I didn't even start building credit until late 20s but it took 6 months to go from ~500 to 750 which opened the door to get a car loan. Should've started sooner.

I wouldn't be surprised if people with generational wealth have no credit at all because they just buy everything outright.

Would it be a good idea in my situation you think? The interest rates are murder. I pay like $200/m but I only make like $40 progress on it due to interest.

If you can, it would be better to break the payment up into parts. 50 per week or 100 every two weeks. That way you're knocking the principal down more often and the interest won't accrue as much.

Absolutely. If your interest is in the 17%+ range I'd almost guarantee you'd get a better rate at your local credit union. Merge em all, lower the interest significantly, those will be paid off, and you can even extend the term a bit if you need to.

Mine was somewhere around 720 last I checked. I don't have a credit card and the only things affecting it are my student loan payments, so I don't really expect it to move much from there.
