Hard to answer, because even financial experts disagree on how to count a home that you are still paying mortgage payments on

Also, a 401k is tricky because you can access it but shouldn't

According to the NerdWallet calculator, approximately $1,024,700.

Probably a little less as an individual, as both my wife an I own the house and the accounts (other than my retirement) are joint accounts.

Everything works a bit different in my country, but I'm set. I'm mid 30, have a good job, and have over CHF 100k personal savings and stocks. When I retire, I get a life-long mandatory pension of about CHF 2300/month. In addition, I'll have another pension of estimated 800k-900k from the company pension fund when I retire (the sum is much lower right now, but will keep growing exponentially until I retire).

I don't have a house, though. Normal people can't afford buying (proper) houses anymore in Switzerland. Most people rent apartments.

I wouldn't say that I'm rich. But thanks to how the whole system works in Switzerland and as long as I don't do anything stupid, I'm probably going to have a good life until the day I die.

But in regard to the question, I'd say I'm sitting on CHF 250k right now. No debts. CHF 100k personal savings and stocks. CHF 150k from company saving fund.

Kuwait. Infrastructure projects are mostly government funded. For larger projects there's Public Private partnerships (PPP). The downside is the finite nature of oil and international move towards carbon neutrality poses a threat to the economy here. Governments across the gulf have started different initiatives to diversify away from oil, but it's unclear how those will pan out.

House should be valued at net asset value Approx value of house (Zillow is fine to use), less the total outstanding mortgage balance. You may also have some adjustments for taxes, prepaids and whatnot, but its minimal and thatd be the way to do it.

401k should definitely be factored in, at whatever your account balance is on any given day.

Multiple properties, mortgages outstanding on all. Those make up over half the worth.

Another mostly half is 401k. Been putting into it for over 20 years.

Zero inheritance or old money. I grew up poor and my folks never had anything, so its all been self built-up over many years. I bought my first home in 2005, then went through the housing crash of 08-12. Net worth was definitely negative for most of that time when the property was underwater. That is still one of the properties we own today, that I rent out.

Enough that you'll probably assume I'm lying.

Likely slightly above $30 million, though not remotely all immediately liquid.

Oh, and some of it is from family wealth from my wife, another good chunk is my own savings and investments, but the vast majority is from my wife's investments and bonuses/earnings from her job.

Sounds like you hit the jackpot in more ways than one. Only thing my ex wife did was bring down my net worth. Its coming back up now nicely though that Im single again.

for me, part of it is. when my grandmother passed, she left me money in a trust and i paid off my house with part of it. what's left composes about ~40% of my net worth. the rest is from a lifetime of frugal living / inexpensive tastes combined with a decent paying job ($139k rn).
