Only 12 episodes first season so not long. First time in decades Ash isnt the lead so Im checking the first couple out tomorrow.

Been watching the jp version and it's a giant breath of fresh air

It's amusing that for such a long time, people were complaining that they were tired of Ash and wanted to focus on new characters, but once it was revealed Ash was being retired, people complained that they wanted to continue following him.

Anyway, I hope the new series does well. Although I haven't seen them and probably won't, I'm at least interested in finding out what the special items the new protags have will eventually do.

I came back to Pokemon again and again to see if Ash would ever in fact become a Pokemon Master...to end it with him beating someone who was not even from the games to become the " true champ" without a final fight with Gary, nor meeting his father, NOR meeting Ho-Ho made me never want to follow Pokemon again...its all pointless.

I only watched the first three episodes, but it's off to a good start so far.

Uhhhhh... Leon was the champion you beat at the end of Sword/Shield.

And he did have his big fight with Gary all the way back in 2002. They've both moved on with their lives way past that.

The ending still sucks though

I stopped watching once the OG VAs changed in Hoenn. At this point it's been so long since I've seen a Pokemon anime I'm not even interested anymore.

I'm sure the human grunting sounds Pokemon make would make me cringe too.

I may watch it with my family.

Uhhhhh... Leon was the champion you beat at the end of Sword/Shield.

I admit...after Sword and Shield had it so you could not transfer old Pokemon into it and had to buy them as DLC I also gave up on the games...with how bad the last few ones have seemed it seems like I did not miss to much either.

Post Ash Pokemon, what I have been asking for since Johto.

I stopped watching during the GSC stuff. I felt like every episode was the same. The trio meet someone who has one Pokemon that the episode is centered around. Team Rocket takes interest and captures it. The Pokemon is freed and then Pikachu uses Thunderbolt and then Team Rocket blasts off again.

Truthfully, I am a big fan of the games, but I gave up on the anime during GSC and with the third movie.

He met Ho-oh in I Choose You.
He beat Gary in Gen 4 or 5 Pokemon league tournament decisively and retired him.
And Leon is from the games.
Ashs father had long presumed to be Professor Oak but was never touched on officially because its too scandalous for a kids show if true.

Wut? Leon is from the games though?

Also Ash had his fight with Gary back in Johto. They settled their rivarly then and Gary is more focused on research then battle nowadays.

I never cared much about who his Dad was nor did the show ever make much of a deal out of his father.

He met Ho-oh in I Choose You.

Was that film the non cannon one with the other cast mates?

If you're talking about that To Be a Master "sendoff", then yeah. As a sendoff, it sucked. Very few if any of the lingering threads were closed. Ash's didn't even battle Giovanni (in fact, I don't think Giovanni appeared at all in that arc). And it's open-ended conclusion--combined with Pidgeot coming back to Ash at the last moments of its final episode--is proof IMO that they're not completely done with Ash.

Clearly Ash will come back at some point. Hes just not the lead anymore for right now. Im hoping hell attain the same status that Cynthia, Red and Blue has and they just randomly show up in future projects for nostalgia.
