...is it common practice to not teach your children common sense these days? 'Cus I definitely taught it to my niece and I'd just like to know if I'm the weird one here or not.

Thank goodness you never hear of right wing parents being conned or grifted.

Imagine them sending their minimum wage cheques to pay for a billionaire's bad faith lawsuits alleging a stolen election? Not these champions of common sense!

Maybe it's so other kids like her, don't do the same thing as they will see it all over tik tok. But the kid screwed her life up but good. She will forever be compromised now as her social security will be shared throughout her life.

yeah i don't think my mom talked to me about it. i can't remember where i learned of it's importance, though.

I would say not real, just from how nonchalant everyone in the video is being about the potential identity theft there.

Like, a website got her name, address, social security number and credit card number in one fell swoop? That's damage control mode ASAP

Yeah, I can see a teen not understanding the importance of her social security number. But then, the teen in question probably wouldn't even know it at all yet to give it out online.

nah, that's just how kids are nowadays. gen z teenagers are so beyond being mentally checked-out that it's not even funny.

The mom is freaking out more about $80 for leggings than her giving her social security number out. That and the flow of the conversation and the bad acting on the daughters part screams fake. And the dad in the background washing dishes and doesn't say a single word?

This is just a horrible skit not worthy of posting.

Definitely a skit. The sadder part is that the twitter account sharing that is probably real.

And to add, they don't look well off enough for me to buy that a teen that old wouldn't understand that $80 is a lot of money for just some leggings. I can buy upper class not caring. But a family like that would have given her some idea of the value of money in a real world setting while growing up.

If that's real, then all those people deserve whatever misery they get for being morons.

This isn't an age or generational thing. I've talked to both young and old people who told me how they were scammed and I couldn't believe how easily they gave up their info.

Yeah but with older people I noticed it tended to be some bullshit on the internet where they got a pop up saying something like congratulations you are the millionth visitor you have won 1 million dollars click here to claim it.
