Yeah, we all worry about regular street crime, abuse of power by police white collar crime, terrorism, or hell even crimes committed by our own government.

But I think people underrate the danger of organized crime.

Sure, the mafia isn't nearly what it once was but make NO mistake about it......it's still going and though they mainly commit financial related crimes these days they still aren't above killing people and putting hits out on people and their family. There are probably corrupt people in government that are also on their payroll as well as cops and judges.

Let's not forget the terrible drug cartel wars that are going on in Mexico right now that the media isn't really talking about. And guess what? A lot of these cartels are operating in the US too.

I'm worried about corporations and their increasing power. So yes.

Certain places of course deal with organized crime at a much greater level than others. I personally dont worry about it all in my daily life, but some people have to deal with cartels and gangs on a daily basis.

Gangs like crips and bloods are also organized crime. They fit the definition. They got ranks They got operations and they have been known to bribe government officials. They might be a bit rag tag compared to the mafia but make no mistake they do have some orginization

I'm considerably more afraid of my own country and of the people currently warping it into a Christofascist-run hell on earth. If you don't count the Trump-run GOP as "organized crime", then organized crime is considerably low on my laundry list of shit to worry about.

I went to high school with an ms13 sect leader. I was much prouder than I was self-preserving and gave him all the shit he gave me and mine. Looking back, I only avoided a hit because I lived so far away from school, and he went to prison for murder like a year later.

in relation to bombings and shootings, one was "Highest amount in Europe", the other was "Only country in Europe where it's increasing", but i don't remember which is which

MS-13 is fucking terrifying and I won't live anywhere they have a foothold/significant activity

Yeah most people probably don't have a reason to think about it. I just had to deal with them due to my job
