l think this is the way. Experience the game the way it was meant to be played.

and then go nuts if you want to see what others came up with.

Sonic Adventure DX HD is a garbage remastered game, luckily on PC with mods it becomes the best version.

A Hat in Time Steam has mods, to add powers and level. That makes it better than the console version which has 0 mods.

Overmodding Skyrim

there is no such thing
you can download a 1000+ mod curated collection that is mostly guaranteed to work with the click of a button these days

my last run was pushing 2k+ mods with gameplay+graphics mods (was running 2 different packs+hand selected picks)

but on topic

this is like saying

well i can, but cheese exists, so why the fuck wouldnt i put cheese on my burger?

Meant searching for and optimizing mods for so long that the player ends up burning out and not playing the game for very long. Trying to find the perfect setup can kind of get into the realm of OCD so that they lose sight of the game.

oh i feel it
back in the day i'd spend weeks selecting mods only to never play it

but now the process is so streamlined it's silly. i can have a clean install running 1k+ mods in under an hour these days. the only caveat is the shitty collections that have useless dependencies within their manifests to force you to use their collection

i remember trying to mod a list i was using to have my argonians/khajiit use digitigrade feet, and the only way i was able to get around it was to download an oldrim mod, select the oldrim mod to overwrite the collection mod, then download individual textures/packs for all footwear
and it got even more complicated when i added in the mod that diversifies khajiit into the dozenish major breeds

I'm talking about spending 15 hours modding it and then playing for like 7 hours and not finishing the game and then repeating that process like 5 times. That's a real phenomenon. I've never looked into Jabberwock or anything, so the poster above might be correct that it's a lot easier, but I think a lot of people want to craft the perfect experience and kind of get lost in it.

Dmc 3 se ubisoft port has lowest input latency of all dmc 3 versions. why some will prefer this version over the hd collection.

Unfortunately it runs like crap and has terrible controller support without the style switch mod which fixes many issues w/ vanilla. So by default you do need to install this mod to have a decent time. you can still play the game like vanilla just leave style switch and expanded weapon loadout off.

Optional mods are inertia and some other stuff that are mostly cosmetic.

Some players will use cheat engine to change the order and attributes of moves. It's possible to add in air launchers (like in dmc 4/dmc 5) to make gameplay mirror its sequels even more.

I play with inertia and style switch mod. I use 3 guns/ 4 devil arm loadout. I keep moves in their vanilla form. No air launchers for me. My playstyle kinda just mirrors high-level vanilla dmc 3 players but I just have access to more moves at once + able to do more stuff w/ trickster like star raves and few other stuff. since i have access to more moves I don't have to be as creative as vanilla dmc 3 players for my DT launch sequences lol. however having to swap between almost double the weapons + few extra styles does make it more mechanically demanding.

anyway the mods are a quick 10 min thing to install for the most part.

Cause it's fun. I have yet to play Terraria without Thorium because I cannot imagine a Terraria where I can't shoot Plantera with Crescent Rose after playing a chrono ocarina.

As someone who has (not for skyrim but a long time ago with Escape Velocity) sometimes spent more time making modifications, for some people I can absolutely say there is an interesting fun about it, that the journey itself and the learning and the creation is itself fun.

And after all, that is what I have games for. Fun.

i'm midway between the two
i think it's so fuckin cool what people have done with modding, and it's why if i'm ever unsatisfied with any game option/mechanic, i immediately search "____ mods", and am most of the time successful

do i want results from mods? well yeah, duh
but do i think (whether i'm interested in a particular mod or not) modding as a concept is fucking cool? hell ya

there's plenty of insanely popular skyrim mods i don't use because they don't cater to my playstyle, but i'm really happy they exist. i mean as a side example, i paint warhammer miniatures.

there was a huge row a few years ago about a new line of paints called "contrast paints", that the sole manufacturer of the warhammer models released themselves. the tagline of these paints was "one thick coat" (a semi-meme about having to thin your previously acrylic based paints). their value lied in how they formulated the darker pigments to settle in recesses and lighter/nonexistent pigment to at most, shade the highlights. on a simple tabletop job? it was literally miracle water. but your average "competitive" painter went to no ends complaining about how it was "cheating".

me personally? i fuckin hate em. not because of how they facilitate easy of use for less skilled painters, but because they leave a "coffee stain" on unsettled pigments. but i'm super fuckin happy that less-skilled painters have access to things they enjoy

the "bethesda games shouldnt be modded" ppl are only hurting themselves lol
and let them suffer tbh

oh and also inertia mod makes it so the player character doesn't stick to the enemies like a magnet in the air. this adds extra challenge as well.
