Yeah wikipedia is great and much much more underappreciated than yt. Like many less people use it. Remember the days of encarta? Wiki made them obsolete

I use YouTube for music videos, since the VEVO app is broken on Samsung TV.

Wikipedia is pretty great, it might be my, 3rd. But is very underappreciated. Is like 15th most visited site in u.s.

Amazon

I would put YouTube at or near the top in terms of importance, but I don't use it much myself.

Wiki
YouTube
EBay
Facebook/MySpace
Google

5 websites that changed the entire landscape of the internet for generations to come. Alternates wouldve come along eventually obviously if these hadnt have been the ones to work out but they are. Probably throw Netflix in too for making streaming mainstream and changing the way we consume all media from entertainment to podcasts to news and everything.

You're certain that alternatives to yt would have very soon come out? And what about the poster above you that never uses, yt?

I do use it, just not much.

It's an easy way for me to share music videos and clips from shows. I don't watch 'YouTubers'. Not interested in their reactions, commentary, play through, reviews, incestuous drama, etc.

IIRC, dailymotion launched at around the same time as YT, so that would have been the alternative.

DM also had less copyright BS to deal with so I could find more on it back when they were competing. Like full WWE matches mostly was what I was into back then.

What?
Not literal incest.

Just youtubers reacting to youtubers who commented on youtubers who had a drama with youtubers and are now making an apology video to keep the 'content' cycle going with yet more commentary and reactions from youtubers.

Figuratively incestuous.

Youtube changed everything. Back before Youtube it wasn't easy to just upload a video onto the internet and have it on there permanently. There were always restrictions because hosting videos on a server for free is very expensive. Youtube lost money for YEARS before ever becoming profitable.
