That was like watching boxing.

When I was in late elementary, there was a coach who would let kids fight. When someone hit the floor, he would walk over and casually ask, "Is it over?" That was it.

Kinda fucked up in hindsight.

I've always been surprised that hockey isn't more popular in the US outside Minnesota and the Northeast.

It's basically soccer except it addresses all the complaints Americans generally have about soccer(Faster, higher scoring, NFL style hits), plus random boxing matches break out during play. Seems like it fit American sports interests to a fault, yet it only really has traction in the aforementioned areas.

Soccer isn't popular in the US because it's a low-scoring game. Having a low-scoring game on ice means that hockey has even less potential since only people in colder locations are likely to relate it.

it even happens in leagues where you get ejected and possibly a match ban for fighting lol, most leagues outside NA do it

Well that is all Ice Hockey is isn't it?

There is never any playing just fighting and flopping/diving everywhere!

Not once whenever I have seen Ice Hockey have I ever seen anyone use the stick to move the puck over the ice just fighting!

Clashing hockey sticks would be cooler, but whatever.

lol, never knew the strategy for ice hockey fights was to hold the guys shirt while punching them in the face. Smart really

in hockey fights happen and it's mostly okay, one or both gets a 5 minute penalty otherwise we're good. In baseball there are bench clearing brawls, players can be suspended as a result and it rarely seems to involve fighting like hockey(I could be wrong). mainly just a buncha dudes yelling.

In any other sport(including baseball), if a player gets into a fight it's suspensions, fines from the league, outrage.

That's kinda why I don't like it. The likelihood of it happening is probably very low, but I'm afraid of seeing someone cut open on the ice.

It has happened before where the knife-shoe strikes a guy by accident in a critical spot, but most of the time you're fine. Clint Malarchuk is one player that unfortunately had a skate strike his neck, but he did live. The video is semi gruesome(lots of blood but you dont get a clear image of impact)

I watched this game. Rempe already had two black eyes from fights in his last two games.
