I'm not a lawyer, but CIPA Section 4 essentially allows courts to order the government to redact (or substitute a summary for) classified documents for discovery to defendants. The government submitted three sealed motions for Section 4 orders back in December, and Trump immediately filed motions to be allowed to see the sealed motions.

I think a basic summary here is that the government doesn't want Trump to have access to classified information, and also the information in the classified documents isn't relevant to the case, so Trump can't see them.

The independent monitors will have to watch and see what his money trail is looking like. If he's crying poor now, and then suddenly has the money later without going through a traditional bondsman, where did it come from? We already know his soft stance on despots. Who will he sell America out to?

You know I'm surprised Elon Musk hasn't planned to foot the bill. He's made alot of bad purchases so a presidential candidate wouldn't be to out of this world of a purchase for him since papa Putin is otherwise occupied at the moment.

These people don't understand how the appellate standards of review work. Most cases that get high publicity in appellate courts concern constitutional questions, which are full blown questions of law that get de novo review (basically a blank canvas for the appellate court), so most people think that appellate courts will just willy nilly reverse a trial court's decision.

Most of what the Trump team will be appealing from is subject to clear error review, which requires a showing that there was basically no basis for the trial court's decisions/ruling.

As Engoron's order plainly shows, there is ample evidence to support his findings. I also heavily doubt that any evidentiary or procedural errors would be so prejudicial as to warrant a reversal of the judgment.

That's at least the last stop in this appeals process. It's maddening that the trial will likely be pushed back to July - August at the earliest. That will also step on Fani Willis' requested August 5th trial date for the RICO case.

I (hope) the Supreme Court is only taking this in to put it on the record that no one is immune from prosecution.

There's a possibility that the Supreme Court wants to be the ultimate authority on this and make a decision, even if the argument itself is absurd.

So I'm assuming SCOTUS wants to rule definitively that "presidential immunity" isn't a thing. Fine.

On the other hand, this means the hush money trial should be free to start in March as scheduled, right?

They just want some finality and put it in writing. At the same time though, they could have told Trump to fuck off with a shadow docket ruling.

Yeah, the hush money trial is 100% set for March 25th. We'll have to see if Judge McAfee wants to slide the RICO trial into the July - August time frame since the January 6th trial isn't happening any time soon. So far, the classified documents case is scheduled for May, but not sure that's actually going to happen.
