If you make provably false claims -- if it can be demonstrated 100% that you lied and lied intentionally -- there should be no expectation of privacy for you IMO.

I think there's a massive difference between lying to friends and family about some weirdo fantasy and going to the police to try and get that person arrested.

Most people remembers the weirdo teenager who lied about cringe shit. They're usually not criminals or meant it to escalate into something like this.

Nobody here knows where she falls. According to the article she didn't even Photoshop nude photos or anything. She just took photos from his movie and made up text messages to show her friends and family.

I mostly agree, but note this started 2 years ago. That 16 year old is now an adult. She's had this entire time to fess up that nothing actually happened to end this nightmare for Gatt, and hasn't. So I think criticizing that aspect and being angry at her for it is warranted.
It's definitely almost entirely the police/DA deserving hatred and punishment in this case, though.

i'm not seeing anything where it says she testified against him so it's prolly safe to say she told the police she made it all up, and they, based on the fabricated texts, assumed she was lying to protect him, and went through with investigation anyways
why they didnt conclude during investigation that it was a fabrication, and why the DA went forwards with charges idk
but based on what's presented here, i dont think the reason this went forward was because the girl was pushing it to or refusing to admit it was fake

The more I read this the more convinced I am that the DA and police kept this going because they fucked up and didn't want to acknowledge that they did.

The LAPD served a search warrant at Gatt's home in Los Angeles on April 6 after they received information that he had been engaged in online sexually explicit communication with a minor across state lines.

There is nothing anywhere saying they received anything more than this tip.

Even now they are almost attempting to use the law to blackmail him.

The victim being across state lines is perhaps a sign they never talked to the fan before the arrest.

While Gatt is pleased with Fridays dismissal, he feels he has been robbed of the chance to completely exonerate myself because of the decision to dismiss the case without prejudice.

Im a little disappointed because Im innocent and I want to be able to tell the world that and rebuild my life.

Yet I still have to worry that one day they could come back and arrest me again for something I never did, that was totally made up.

Some people will still say, He got off but he still did it.

'If it had been dismissed with prejudice it would have mean the DA couldnt re-file the charge against me and I could share with the world the 7,000 pages of documents we have that prove Im innocent.

But the DA doesnt want us to do that because they know it would be very embarrassing publicly for them and make them have to admit that they did not do a good job and should never have brought this case in the first place.

With the dismissal without prejudice, they get to hold it over my head, like a threat that they could bring the case again so I shouldnt share all this material I have that shows the evidence against me was manufactured. The DA is trying to prevent us from releasing it.

They stretched this out and let it get dismissed so they didn't have to actually admit they got it wrong.

Sounds like this. Shes a minor. Family member did the right thing reporting it. But Jesus DA needs to come clean.

It's not safe to assume this at all.

We have no idea if she told the truth 2 years ago.

That's not an answer to why she hasn't come forward to say the allegations were false. She currently has anonymity - "should" or not is irrelevant here - and can't come forward to make a statement without giving that up.

Come forward to who? We have no idea if she even talked to the police.

The reports of his arrest say that the LAPD received a tip off about an interstate victim. This article says that was a relative of that apparent victim. At no point have the LAPD actually said anything about working with the victim. Nothing in the arrest. Nothing in the lead up to this trial. Nothing in the trial from the prosecution.

There's a reason the LAPD haven't divulged a single new fact since their arrest. They want it to play out and blow over because they thought they'd get evidence after his arrest. Everything since then has happened has been strategic to protect their own asses. It isn't strategic for them to admit that they got it wrong. So chances are they have no interest in broadcasting what the fan told them after the fact. If she said she was a victim chances are they would have said so and brought her to LA for the trial and then place the blame on her.

Damn that's upsetting.

People were asking why the purported victim wasn't coming forward to publicly deny the allegations in order to protect the guy's reputation.

If this was the LAPD then I am not shocked at all. Probably the most corrupt and inept police officers in the world. They all want to be TV stars and think every call is a chance to be on Cops.

I'd like to point out false accusations of sexual harassment like rape and more is not as rare as you make it sound.

The black community in particular has great history of many us being thrown in prison or killed due to false accusations of sexual assault on a white woman.

An investigation should definitely be held, but you shouldn't just be believing a person is guilty just because an accusation is thrown out there. Just believing all woman are telling the truth is dangerous too.

This, together with a stronger recognition that crime and truth don't recognize gender. Men are statistically more likely to be violent than women, but that fact does little good if the person beating the shit out of you is a woman. There is also nothing about being a women that prevents you from lying, and the "believe all women" thing depends on you either believing that, or believing that because rape is such a serious issue, nobody will lie about it. Neither of these things are true.

Real equality demands equal justice and protection for all. A lesbian in an abusive relationship should be taken seriously, and so should a man who has been raped. Children abused by their mother or another female relative need just as much help as if it had been their father. People who destroy the lives of others with demonstrably false accusations--and this can as you pointed out, have a racist element--should suffer stiff penalties.

The reality that certain crimes differ based on gender might inform your suspicions, but it should be the reality of the facts that determine guilt.

People will say you're not meant to take it literally or some bullshit but it was always a really dumb slogan, even if there were good intentions behind it. It felt condescending at the time and in hindsight kinda dangerous because truth is not something one gender gets more ownership of and even the mere suggestion of it is pretty messed up

Sue her parents then and she should be screened closely.
