Yep, got banned from there myself for "transphobia" even though I had a history of posting pro-trans stuff on there. The context was that a trans user on there was calling anyone for everyone to boycott HL to make a difference for trans people, using methods like shaming others. I told her that actually voting and tackling trans issue politically would make more of a difference, especially when they revealed they lived in a swing state but refused to vote because they don't want to be part of the system, to "boycott" (she never clarified what she meant on this part). So yeah a bunch of other pro-trans users and/or trans users got banned in that topic because we disagreed with TC's method of shaming others to boycott HL. Never went back since.

At least it's better than gamingcirclejerk, especially when HL was a thing. That was a place that openly allowed doxxing as a method for boycotting. Though that's a very very low bar to pass lol.

I actually kinda remember that thread when it happened. Since it's been years, I don't recall the exact game or context off hand, but it was people upset a game was scoring well despite some group disliking it. It predates Hogwarts Legacy by years, so not that, but it was similiar in that a VA wasn't actually lgbt or lacked such a character and thus a thread about how it was a bad game to not play it. The reasoning was damn petty, just can't remember what it was.

There were quite a few, like 7-10 banned there for saying "I'll probably still play it" or expressing even remote interest in hoping it'd be good.

@Purple_Cheetah I remember that thread. If I'm not mistaken, it was for Kingdom Come: Deliverance. There was controversy about it not having any diversity, and the phrase "Deus Vult" being included in a trailer, so resetera decided it was made by the alt-right and went nuclear on anyone who didn't trash it.

Possibly, it's also possible that it WAS Hogwarts Legacy after some thinking. As said they tend to do it if you don't follow the railroad.

They've gone from places where people can have discussions to highly censored environments where authoritarian moderators use their privilege to enforce their personal biases. If you can get banned simply for liking or even talking about a video game, what's the point in using a gaming forum?

ResetEra is so bad that a significant chunk of their users left to start their own gaming forums. XboxEra started because Xbox fans were tired of being bullied as ResetEra is PlayStation haven. FamiBoards started because of the awful moderation taking place on ResetEra.

Once they get that they can dig up everything on you and they will use it against you without so much as blinking an eye.

Era shouldnt have been allowed to be formed in the wake of NeoGaf collapsing. There was a lot of illicit, illegal and gross stuff going on there for many years that went unpunished. I understand that with a forum the size it was not every user taking part in the shady stuff but the ones that were should absolutely have faced hard consequences for it. Imo Gaf should have been seized by the FBI, Evilore should have absolutely been arrested for the shit he did along with others on a case by case basis. Era.they dont Shoot first, ask questions later.. There its shoot first and never ask questions, doesnt matter to them who was right or wrong.

Another got caught with over 60 (!!) counts of CP on his computer and went to prison for it! Thats kind of the neighborhood of the variety of stuff theyve messed around with.
