3 isn't terrible. Gunplay and movement are an improvement over 2, even if the story is mid.

I really liked Wonderlands but there's basically no post game content and the DLC was garbage.

I need to get back into 3. I was a mega fan of 2 but for whatever reason I quit 3 about 20~ hours into it. Hell I think I went back to 2 after I quit 3.

BL3 DLC isn't that great either. I was really sad when I purchased it. I think one of them is slightly worth it, but don't bother. Just play the base game.

BL2 DLC is GREAT however and BL1 same. But if you really are picky, Tiny Tina's assault on Dragon Keep is easily probably the best DLC of the franchise.

3 might have a bad story (in the main campaign), but it has great build diversity and gunplay. It also lets you toggle any of its seasonal events at will, which is something I wish more games would do. Not just because those limited-time rewards aren't limited anymore, but it also means the work the devs put in for those items/maps doesn't go to waste. Zane and Moze are my favorite playable characters.

100% agree. It really set the bar for what a quality expansion should be and nothing's come close since.

BL3 turned me off the series for good, something about it was always laggy & played like shit, & the story was awful & wonderlands annoying. No thank you

BL3 was alright. my biggest problem with it was the UI's console-port-itis. if they had actually developed it for PC it would have been a good game.

BL2 is great, and has good DLC. it suffers in UVHM where slag is required but it's fun before that.

pre-sequel is alright, lots of annoying characters but some of the weapons and the Jack clone character are cool

The marriage one is good, the Fortnite drop-in one is a surprisingly good time.

The real draw of 3's DLC is the guns, the Fortnite one has Plasma Coil and that pays for itself.

idk, I still enjoy it. It has a nice variance of locations and bosses. The closing scene is legit heartwarming. I guess that fades after successive playthroughs.

I don't feel like BL2's humor was ever very topical or anything. most of it was just comic mischief like you see in cartoons

I've been meaning to play the first one. Maybe I'll give it a go tonight

Ehh, if they were at historical lows, I might pull the trigger. Probably would only get Pre-Sequel, though, since I never did get all the way through (or was it on all characters?).

Did the humor ever hold up? Jack phoning you ever ten nanoseconds to give a cringey repartee while you're just trying to shoot some Lv5 bandit in the face got tiresome quickly. At times it works (things like the [in]famous "kill yourself" mission), but I never lauded BL2 as much as BL1 for those kinds of reasons. Tales from the Borderlands and Pre-Sequel seemed a bit better in those departments, somehow.

I remember a lot of it being memes that were already dated at the game's release

Wonderlands was good for a playthrough, but the endgame sucked. Making it roguelite was a good idea, but that's basically all it is. When they upped the chaos level to 100, I just dipped.

maybe the memes you're thinking of were inspired by the game. it came out in 2012, before most people even knew what a meme was

I got the complete borderlands 3 with all dlc on a price mistake a year or two ago for like 12$. Ive never touched it lol

BL2's DLCs were rather hit or miss as well. The Scarlett and Hammerlock ones weren't all that good, but the Torgue and Tina ones do a LOT of heavy lifting to make up for it.

I disliked the hammer lock one because the maps were so ridiculously large and empty. Scarlett was okay because the pirate aspect gave a feeling of sailing through sand, but hammerlock had none of that. Didn't even have cool bosses.

Glad I'm not the only one who came into this topic thinking "Steam has a yaoi series with DLC that's so expansive that $65 is a deal?"

Crossing my fingers for a full remake of the first game, with the scaling, gear system, and subdued story and humor intact, but with the qol and gameplay improvements of 3.

The first will always be my favorite, but it's so goddamn clunky

Yeah.

The first game had the best classes in terms of balance before they started making action skills largely OP summoning spells.

I also liked that you could build weapon proficiency independent of your skill tree, and that some classes were built to advantage certain weapons... which would make more sense NOW that they have so many odd weapon variants that you can find pistols that act like SMG, SMG that act like rocket launchers, assault rifles that act like sniper rifles, sniper rifles that can put out a spread pattern like a shotgun etc... so now you could actually specialize in a single weapon type and still have a variety of ways to pump out destruction.

I remember there was an entire mission based off of the beach volleyball scene in Top Gun, so that kinda counts. Top Gun is older than most of BL2s audience though.

Im sure theres other stuff thats mostly flavor text reference, but yeah.
