Nope. Gun goes on top of nightstand if I have to get up and investigate a potential intruder, knife goes in between mattress and boxspring for close quarters defense (in case wake up to being strangled/beaten).

I'll never trust that. Used to have to use one to clock in at work and many times I had to do it again cause it didn't read. Usually had to wash my hands to clock out using it.

Yeah. It essentially shows that it's for show... It's the same as having a gun safe next to your bed right? It just looks cooler.

There's always the risk of it not being easily accessible when you need it.

With a gun safe if I used one for bedside storage would be one of those that got the 4 dials and you put in code. Before going to bed of a night I'd just have it one dial turn to open it. I did this when I was in rehab. We had night stands with a drawer you could place a pad lock on. If I woke up and wanted a snack or a cigg I didn't wanna possibly wake up room mates fiddling with the lock cause I'd definitely need light and it's not like I had a flash light. And yeah you had to lock your shit up. Snacks might be left alone but ciggs where gold out there

I don't worry about a safe though. I don't have kids. I do have 2 though. One for a vehicle and a big one. I use the big one cause I don't need all my guns out at one time.

Or live in a bad area. Or work a profession in which just the nature of your job makes enemies. I.e. law enforcement corrections etc. I have had a death threat put on me.

Fortunately I think he was too drunk that night to remember or was at least more rational once sobered up. But he was a ranking gang banger so I still took it serious

Not necessarily. Random break ins are a thing. Even in nice neighborhoods. And athletes and movie stars are known to constantly have their homes broken into since the whole world knows they aren't going to be home at certain times when they're working.

Horrible logic. Last year Nancy Pelosi's home was invaded and her husband got his dome cracked open.

Better to have and not need than need and not have. The US is dangerous

Not secure enough for my taste personally. The very least I would trust would be a safe that covers the entire pistol.

I feel safes are only a good choice if you are an incredibly light sleeper or have some means like an alarm or a dog that will bark to wake you up. Cause they get to your room you won't have time

And also if you have kids. Then yeah most places by law they need to be in a safe

Not all of them. Average cop response time is 15 minutes so some do a Smash and grab. Break in hit the most expensive things they see and run.

Used to be a TV show about it. But they where pros they did more than a Smash and grab. They tore the whole house up using up atleast 10 minutes out of that 15

Good show. It was to educate people how easily it can be done. Once they did it they'd upgrade the person's security not just alarms but like better locks etc. Then they'd come back at a random time within a week get the people to come out of the house immediately and try again cause the stuff on works I'd they utilize it.

Believe it was called it takes a thief. They where former criminals who turned over a new leaf and became security experts

Here storage methods mostly only apply to if kids are in the house. Differs state bybstate but the owners manual for every gun I've had states the laws on this. I'm assuming the states not listed don't have any laws on it

I just keep one in my nightstand. I use to always just keep my guns in a bag in my gaming room. But not after covid. The burglaries weve been getting here the last year are just insane. Thugs from Cali in stolen Kias cruising up and down neighborhoods. This week alone, an old lady got woken up by two suspects who tied her down, pepper sprayed her and her dog and ransacked the house. In broad daylight.

Yesterday, we had a Kia crew knock on someones house to see if it was open. Busted the door down, pepper sprayed the dog, and emptied their house.

and not after, not once, but twice, Ive caught kids trying to check my car door handles at like 10pm

I believe I thwarted a robbery like that. Was sitting in the house with no lights on. (It was getting dark but not enough I couldn't see) no cars in the driveway and this guy comes and knocks on the door when I swing open the door he had a half shocked half worried look on his face and he just blurted out wrong house and went off in a hurried pace before I could respond.
