I haven't seen one in America but I have no context for how recent the technology even is, so it might just be a slow rollout considering it mildly requires a different type of cart

I like dunking on the utter fraud that is Tucker Carlson, but I have always been surprised that we have this in Target here. I live in a city, but not a major city. But we have had the kind of cart system he is talking about here for at least a few years. I always thought it was kind strange that it is here of all places.

I travel a good bit, and I have seen similar set ups in NYC and I think Toronto. And then my city randomly has one at the downtown Target!

I think 2-story grocery stores are kind of rare in the US, but the Ikea near me has a cart escalator. Aldi has the coin in the cart system. I doubt Tucker Carlson has personally shoped for groceries in his entire life, so of course he finds it amazing.

Its not so much for current tech, its not seen much because stores that use carts in the US are mainly flat and one floor and large.

theyre used in cities and other countries where they cant have large 1 floor stores so they need to use multiple levels

This segment was hilarious. It honestly feels like Tucker Carlson never actually did any grocery shopping himself.

I made this in another topic and it went unappreciated.

I remember those quarter carts since I was a kid from the 80s at stores like KMart and Ames, also Ann and Hope had a conveyor that hooked the front of the cart and pulled it to the second floor.

These things have been around for a long time.

Yeah, cultural approach informs our technological decisions too.

There's a Target not far from where I live that's multiple floors and has a cart escalator. It's not quite the same as in the video since it's a separate thing beside the regular escalator but similar concept. And I've seen the carts that you put a quarter in at Aldi.

The disturbing thing is Stewart is right what he said at the end. Tucker is getting his conservative viewers comfortable with aligning themselves with an authoritarian dictator like Putin. He wants to leave them with the impression that things are actually good under Putin's rule and we should maybe even want the same kind of thing here.

I've heard people say similar with Trump getting his base comfortable with violence being inevitable/necessary/normalized.

The shit right-wingers use free speech for is infuriating.

I remember multiple Targets in Seattle having the cart escalator and that was a decade ago.
