We get it. Madame Web isn't a cinematic masterpiece. It's far from the best of the superhero films but, unlike what many reviews would tell you, it's also far from the worst. Instead, it's a wild, campy, supernatural teen thriller that seems destined to become a legendary sleepover movie.
When I was young, the films that made recurring appearances at sleepovers and on friends' TVs at movie nights were far from the most well-reviewed. In fact, as I thought about the films that watching Madame Web reminded me of, I was impressed to learn that every single one (many that my generation deem as classics) were all rated "Rotten" on Rotten Tomatoes. Tank Girl, Empire Records, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Craft, Return to Oz, and Final Destination 2 all hold that distinction

If I was paying for a review, and all I got was 'it's shit, but teens might watch it ironically in the future', I'd ask for my money back.

There's cult following movies and "so bad it's good," and then there's Gigli. I haven't seen this to personally give my two cents, but the way it's being described certainly sounds Gigli-tier more than Return to Oz (cult) or The Room (the "so bad it's good" standard.)

That isnt a review at all. It's an article saying Madame Web might become an infamous cult classic because it's so bad it's good, which I honestly will have to agree with after watching it. There's a lot of stupid in it for a good time to drink with friends with lol.

Btw... years back, some people were saying this very same thing about Cats (2019). That's about the kindest thing anyone had to say about it... anyone know if that ever became a thing? Because that film seems mostly forgotten instead of the comedic cult classic those folks were saying it would be.
