He's right though. All of the accusations about Whedon are about him being a monumental asshole, I don't remember anything about him being a sex pest.

You have to remember that joss whedon shows are not just a product of joss whedon
There are the product of several writers and actors and cinematographers and editors

A bunch of people worked hard to make these shows good and 1 guy being a douche shouldn't undo that

Yeah, Whedon is by all accounts a toxic, abusive asshole, but nobody so far has claimed he was a doing anything sexually abusive. Yes, affairs with actors on your shows is not great for power dynamic reasons, but again nobody has came out and said anything about it being coerced or non-consensual. The rule about Michelle was to spare her from his raging asshole tendencies.

In most settings, the fact that there's a power dynamic in place for an affair like that means it was coerced at best.

It's really hard to not "consent" when the guy asking you has the ability to fire you.

I don't disagree but it's not impossible to engage in a affair with your boss consensually, difficult and fraught with issues, but not impossible. But so far nobody has come forward and claimed that their sexual relationship with Whedon has been abusive or coercive. Doesn't mean that they won't someday but until then, I am not going make accuse a person of something that serious.

Can you consent when the person asking for an affair can fire you if you don't? Even if you think you're willing, there's always that dynamic in place that presents a threat to you and your livelihood if you ever say no.

There's always coercion, even if it's only implied by the power dynamic.

He didn't. Being a dick wasn't what metoo was about.

The charisma carpenter thing really bothered me because even as a teen I was like "why are they totally character assassinating this character wtf" and I would remain confused and upset for decades with no answer, until the whedon stuff came out and it turned out it was because of tensions and abuse.

Finally getting an answer was like a double edged sword, now I know what happened but... now I know what happened.
