I cant believe I used to have to commute 30 min-1 hour to work.

now I can take naps during my lunch break, cook breakfast at home, play with my dogs, all while working and being more efficient.

Those that work in personwhy havent you quit your job yet and found a new one where you can WFH?

I mean this right here proves that wfh is less efficient for the firm. Everyone knows this though. People who still try to argue otherwise are classic SPITRs.

wfh is more efficient because instead of hating life staring at the clock at work stalling as much as possible, I can now crank out work faster because Im happier and more comfortable

Remote work is considerably less accessible than people think. Often times you need to be in the same state as the employer and have extensive credentials for what often times amount to basic entry-level clerical work.

My job is highly collaborative and while I can certainly work from home on a normal day, sometimes you really just do need to grab a bunch of people in a room with a whiteboard to solve some problems and the current state of digital collaboration tools + work from home environments just don't really make that possible.

literally everything is more comfortable. eating is more comfortable. even going to the bathroom is more comfortable. and you don't have to deal with everyone's shit all the time.

gotta completely agree here. if your job allows for it, why would you not want to work from home.

Nah man, sometimes you still need to live in the same state/city to work at a specific company.

its work from home you can do it anywhere! shows a lack of understanding and knowledge about the subject.

Typically the ones that require same-state are either small companies (e.g. don't want to figure out taxes in other states) or companies that are planning RTO (or require infrequent visits).

Extensive credentialing for entry-level clerical work is basically every "entry level job" posting WFH or not.

I had to work from home, I hated it. I've also had 90-180 minute commutes and I actually grew to enjoy it - just put some music on, enjoy the road.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

why tho

there was a woman during the pandemic who ended up getting an annual pass to Universal Studios and just doing her work there. She got a discount on food for being a pass holder and when she wanted a break she just went for a walk or went on a ride.

Not realistic for everyone but damn what a cool opportunity.

Honestly, I just missed interacting with others. I worked during the 2020 Census as a supervisor WFH and managing a team of 60 or so people. Of course Id go meet up staff to drop off materials or pick up things at the office, but I just felt like it isnt really me to be cooped up inside all day. I play music as a hobby and spend a lot of time already separated from my friends. We meet up pretty often, but I also like meeting others and getting their perspective on the experiences of the same job. I also like knowing I paid my dues to society at large by interacting with the world external to my thoughts.

I work as a teacher at a bilingual program and get to see 5th and 6th graders tackle challenges and grow as people. I get to share an excitement for subjects I continue to study through the lens of music, tradition, and history of the world.

Im not a genius guy or anything, I just have had a life full of working experiences to share. Ive seen sunrises and sunsets during my happiest moments and my saddest moments in the pursuit of money. Ive stretched my mind out on substances just to play music not real, make it real, and quit them only to find out that the world contains all the beauty and music Id ever want to discover. Ive questioned my culture, heritage, my religion, and lived to tell the tale through years of heartache.

Why not share all of that with the world?

i do like this sentiment, and cant fault you for it honestly.

but plenty of WFH jobs are impactful as well. Also, spreading positivity and those experiences doesnt have to be part of your job. Can just do that for fun too :)

there are hybrid work set ups that are slowly being built. In that case, unless the job really needs a physical appearance(physical work; developing relationships with clients), there's really no downside if the work fits.
