Can anyone explain to a foreigner like me, why Harris' reputation is (seemingly) so bad?

Was she just unlucky because she got shitty tasks or is it something else?

Or is it a thing from the past and she has earned some merits meanwhile?

I'm just curious and want to understand the circumstances/reasons.

Her record as a prosecutor and her seemingly alleged complete refusal to do anything to actually help Biden do stuff other than go out in front of cameras and talk about how he's not a dementia riddled mush brain.

Beyond that she's a woman of color and certain people hate that, she's had little to no presence her entire time as VP. She's less relevant than Jared was

If she is supposed to be some sort of successor to Biden, I don't get why the party don't send her out on these foreign policy trips to Europe and whatnot.

She's a cop and therefore awful, but otherwise just a typically boring establishment democrat.

Biden doesn't like her because she insulted him and made him look bad during the primary. He chose her to balance his ticket, but her hands are tied and she's not actually allowed to perform the VP's typical role in an administration. The Secretary of State Anthony Blinkin is the "real VP" that manages the cabinet.

For a bit she got the cast the deciding cote in the Senate though. Not much because 2 democrats are actually turncoats so they'd only vote under extreme pressure.

What she's accomplished deserves disrespect.

We've had two whole women come close to the Presidency and they both suck ass. Misogyny is why we haven't seen more, not why 2 out of 2 suck.

If you want to talk about the problems of Kamala or Hillary as POLITICIANS buckle up because I can go all day. Neither of them are great, neither of them would I put as my first choice President especially not the first Female President.

But when Kamala was nominated to be VP, within HOURS there were articlels and News Talking heads saying she was a bad choice because she slept her way to the top.

Not attacking her for a job as senator, Not attacking her for job as a prosector, Not attacking her because she wasn't even the best black woman in the running for VP.... they were attacking her because she was a woman and that means if she was successful it was because she was 'a slut'

It literally turned my stomach.

For me it was the laughing on air about smoking weed in college in 2019 during her Presidential run, a stark difference from her 20~ years as a prosecutor where she had no qualms about aiding in the conviction of over 1900 people for weed charges during her tenure, and also fought against legalize recreational weed use in California (2010).

Better to have new blood in the White House. She may be a prosecutor, but she's young and she's a member of a demographic that has been denied the opportunity to become president. Sometimes -- hell, most of the time -- change has to come about because of force rather than readiness. If we're gonna wait for America to be "ready" for a female president, we'll have on in the 2080s.

If we have a Black woman as the President of the United States in the immediate future, that opens up doors to greater opportunities. I don't care what anyone says. Any woman, and any member of any minority group, would have a better chance of getting into the White House once a Black woman has been president.

I know she's unpopular, but sometimes you just have to swallow those pills. She couldn't be any worse than Trump or Biden. She doesn't blame Chinese people for COVID or Latinos for America's crime statistics. And she remembers where she was last Friday.

Black female. This isn't rocket science.

She had some criticism come up when she was attorney general of California, specifically for fighting against wrongfully convicted prisoners getting new trials, non-violent drug convictions, and arguing against early release for prisoners citing the need for CA prisoners as fire-fighting volunteers for wildfires.

She also has a number of gaffes as Vice President that has caused the Biden Administration to keep her out of the limelight.

Really she's just another run of the mill politician, but America always has issues with women and black people in power (let alone both at once).

When Kamala died looking up for info on his passing was weird because his real name was "Jim Harris" and he passed in 2020, during the presidential campaign.

She has recently taken a stand of "nobody should be arrested for weed" and yet she was very vigilant about it when she was. D.a. a lot of people called her out on it. Also I think people question her intelligence due to the way she speaks like a 5th grader when explaining things. Either that or they find her condescending treating you like you're the 5th grader and need to be spoken to like you're an idiot. Personally I could take it or leave it with her.

Ask yourself this. If a white, male prosecuter had her same prosecutorial record, would they actually receive accolades for it, (you know, the whole "no nonsense, tough on crime" thing).
I don't deny that she was overzealous in her days as a prosecutor, but let's not kid ourselves here about the real reason most people are on the Kamala hate train.

That should definitely be a criticism towards Biden's decision on his vp choice. Unfortunately, any time she's brought up in conservatives' conversations (I live in a red city so there's a lot) it's never about her past as a prosecutor. The comments always drift to her being a "slut" or homewrecker.

anyone who benefitted her political career those legs went up like goal posts.

she had many nicknames in the bay area. i would recommend doing some research.

maybe YOU should do research.

Brown was out of office long before Harris was Attorney General, before she was a Senator, before she was VP nominee.

The Mayor of San Fran does not control state and National politics ESPECIALLY decade after he leaves office. She did not get to where she is because of her sex life, and it did not hit the national press when she was tapped for VP because people hate when politicians get ahead because of personal connections.

It got to be national news because the best way to tear a woman down is to slut shame her. The best way to put a woman who is becoming too powerful in her place is to bring up the time in her life when her sex life wasnt pure.

I repeat Harris has made more than her share of mistakes as politicians, but without fail the first attacks against her are to slut shame her.

Oh definitely. I say the same thing about Pence. He was Trump's pick basically becasue he was the opposite of Trump. Trump was a foul-mouthed womanizer. Pence was a God-fearing, wouldn't be in the room alone with a woman that wasn't his wife "safe" choice to pull in the evangelicals.
