slk_23 02/15/24 1:47:06 AM #1:	Didn't happen to me, but it happened to one of my coworkers in the parking lot. CCTV cameras caught two guys making off with a catalytic converter in just a few minutes. Not sure whether the police will be able to identify them based on the grainy video, but it's absurd how easy it is to steal that part of a car. Worst thing is that replacing it costs $2000 or more, and who has that kind of expendable income in this economy? I was a technician at my last job and used to do maintenance on security cameras. Some of them really are cheap/low quality. Usually the analog ones although they do make high quality analog cameras. Also how high your car is off the ground impacts likelihood of theft. And if your creative you can wrap you converter with a deterrent like barbed wire That doesn't deter anything. The same battery powered angle grinder they use to cut the exhaust pipe will cut through barb wire faster than it will the pipe. You're only adding seconds to the removal time. Smarter car producers like Honda have moved the cat to the engine bay. You're not getting at my cat unless you remove the hood. --- I'm an artist at what I do.
