Police are searching for a man who allegedly made anti-Jewish comments before hitting a man with a metal bat on Staten Island. It happened in the Mariners Harbor section. According to police, the man was on Grandview Avenue, a zone designated for DMV driving tests, when he was attacked at around 2:30 p.m. Monday. The victim, a 25-year-old instructor, told CBS New York he had just gotten out of his vehicle to let a student in when another man approached and punched him. "He asks me, how do I know that I'm Jewish? Before I know it, his hands are in my face and I start like yelling at him and screaming like for people to come, and he starts backing off and then he's like 'You dirty Jew,' and then he takes out this metal bat," he said. The instructor needed stitches for a cut on his head. The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating.

It always frustrates me when people act like no one bad could ever share the same politics, same religion, same opinion on any subject. They always have to be wolves in sheep's clothing. A true sheep never does any wrong.

Is your cause that weak? The "few bad apples" metaphor came from a period in Europe when atheists were put to death and Jews were seen as witches. It is and has always been a bigoted slogan meant to justify bigotry. It isn't some universal truth just because it has a ring to it.

There are members of my religion that are total shitbags. There are people on the same political divide as me who are total shitbags. There are people of my nationality, who believe in my nation as much as I do, who are total shitbags.

Don't ever pretend that dirt only exists on the other side of the dividing line or that admitting there's dirt is the same as saying "both sides are the same." It isn't. There were soldiers in World War II on the Allies' side that committed rape, that murdered civilians. It doesn't mean that the Allies and the Nazis are two peas in a pod. Yeah everyone hates our guts. Most other Jewish people I've talked to feel super isolated these days. A lot of liberals Jews who have had to break off friendships because their lefty friends just turned rabidly anti-semitic. Lucky for me the only people in my life who've started spouting shit were people that already annoyed me beforehand.
