Back in the good old days, if you got stuck on something in a video game, you look it up on youtube and then watch like a minute video of how to do it in a quick and easy way and that's it. Then you move on with your life.

But nowadays, if you're stuck on something in a video game and look up the solution on youtube, you get this:

-Thumbnail with an exaggerated person's face on it, with a red arrow pointing to literally nothing and a title that is typed out LIKE THIS!?!?!?!?! The shortest video is 20 minutes long.

-click on the video and hit a 15 second unskippable ad if you somehow don't have adblocker

-30 second intro plays with various clips of the guy doing wacky stuff while 8-bit music plays in the background. Sometimes he has some dumb avatar.

-"What's up youtube!? [Channel name] here! And today I'm going to show you how to get past this part in the videogame. But first! This video is sponsored by dollar shave club!"

-1 minute ad of Dollar Shave Club / Nord VPN / RAID: Shadow Legends / whatever while youtuber lies about how it improved their life

-"Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe! Click the bell for notifications! Follow me on instagram and twitter! Subscribe to my Twitch stream; I stream every other day at 5pm! Check out my facebook page! Become a member of my subreddit and discord! And check out my Patreon page! You can get access to exclusive streams and if you donate $5 or more, I'll put your name at the end of the video! Be sure to SMASH that like button!"

-Guy then proceeds to talk about his personal experiences growing up with the video and how it got him out of a dark time in his life or some shit, all the while jumpcutting cuz heaven-forbid there's dead air between sentences. But somehow it's still long as hell.

-Another ad plays. This time it's 3 minutes but you can actually hit the skip ad button within 5 seconds now.

-10 minutes in, we're finally in the video game part! He then proceeds to shove his face cam feed in the corner, taking up 25% of the screen.

-Guy tries to do the thing multiple times, but keeps failing. Showing a wacky face reaction and then jumpcutting to the next failed attempt.

-Takes him 10 minutes with all the dumb failed attempts he left in the video. All the while, he has to comment on every little fucking thing he sees or does.

-Finally, he does the thing, but barely explains anything about it. Spends more time celebrating that he did it and never explains how he (barely) achieved it.

-"Well I hope that helped. Don't forget to subscribe to see more of my content! And I want to thank my fellow Patreon members such as sephiroth_420, and xXx_360_No_ScOpE_xXx for being my top paid followers this month"

-Patreon names fill the page, then a 1 minute endslate appears that shows a couple of similar videos from the guy, all while 8-bit music plays

-Another ad loads in for some reason, but this time it's 15 seconds and you can't skip it.

People do not know how to get to the FUCKING point anymore and are more concerned with shoving their fat FUCKING face in everything and making a brand of themselves than actually delivering quick and helpful content. It's just like those FUCKING food blogs where they put their life story before every recipe before giving you the directions.

If I ever get stuck I just look myself up real quick

Haven't had this problem tbh. If anything my problem is that no one even uploaded a video in the first place. I'd accept having to sift through a long video that doesn't get to the point over the video not existing at all leaving me with no resource for the part of the game I need help with.

I think I remember finding a similar channel. They were making videos for each collectible flag in the original Assassin's Creed

When you find the few channels that put up quality guides without the BS you need to subscribe or otherwise keep them in mind. The Youtube algorithm demands stupid reaction faces with arrows and 10 minutes where half of it is advertizing, so that's the norm. Channels that don't tow that line need a bit of extra support.

I recently needed to look in to some stuff for GTA San Andreas and Vice City and didnt have this problem either.

I also didnt have any problems with ads

If a thumbnail looks annoying or is blatant AI generated clickbait I don't watch that video. There are tons of short normal videos for pretty much everything

I got spoiled on Persona 3 this way. I was looking up a boss fight I was having trouble with and BAM! Huge spoilers on the recommended sidebar. I was so pissed at that

Tbh that's on you. Persona games are easy. Why don't you play a REAL Shin Megami Tensei game.

I actually still use GameFAQs or reddit for this kind of stuff.

I hate 76 minute long videos of unnecessary waffle just to get to what I want, and I have got unnecessarily pissed off with spoilers - e.g. I search "level 14 boss fight" and the next recommended video is "level 15 anman betrayal! like and subscribe"

Not to mention how the search algorithm is less than useless for the most part. Shows me 4-5 sponsored videos then a pile of stuff I've already watched, then some other shit I'm not interested in. Woe betide if I click on one of those, because then my feed will be full of reactions or makeup tutorials or fake family videos.

Also, while I'm ranting, if I'm searching for a PEGI 18 game, I don't need whatever the fuck is going on with censoring b**r (beer) or actual swear words; it's fucking stupid.

I just don't like how pandering it can be and the corporation took it over. It's fine to build a bit of a side hustle but when you have to make videos because you think it'll get you more clicks is lame.

I feel like youtube has been better to smaller channels but you still are at their mercy.

The thumbnails are often someone over reacting. Or were. I never click on those videos even for ppl I liked after awhile.

TC isn't wrong. I've complained about a lot of the same things.

If I like your video I'll hit the Like button on my own. If I'm interested in more from you, I'll subscribe on my own. I don't need every single video from every single YouTuber begging for Likes and subscriptions. When they insist I smash that Like button, I do the opposite. Stop whoring for Likes.

Knock it off with the lengthy intros. It's YouTube, not The Lord of the Rings. You're not up for an Oscar. I'm watching you from my toilet.

You know what else I hate? The actual people. It's like there's an unwritten rule that you need your face on there and your voice being a spaz all the time about everything. "WHAT? Oh my God, you guys! It's a tree! It's a FREAKING TREE! *hysterical cackle* This is insane." Not literally everything is mind-blowing. Take your Ritalin.

Seriously, I want to do a video with five minutes of intro and opening credits, then the video is five seconds of me being astonished by grass, begging for you to punch that Like button and fondle that Subscribe button, and then end credits.

I never rung the dang bell once. And I was on youtube when they used to have a five star system. And sub for sub were just jokes.

A content creator pretty much has a choice. They can either do the things some people find annoying and grow, or don't do the things and have a small channel lol.

YouTube has definitely gone downhill. They've gotten crazy with the demonetizations over violence and profanity. It might as well be called SafeTube. There was a video game review of Mortal Kombat and theyWRITING'S NOT THAT EASY. WITH GRAMMARLY, YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT YOUR MESSAGE BEING UNCLEAR.
