can think of options... the prices of tillamook sliced cheese is almost identical to the cost of a box of kraft american cheese at the costco.

quality > quantity.

I used to work at a deli, and honestly, I'll take the sleeves for grilled cheese over deli American, even from decent brands like Thumann's. The singles being so artificial is what makes them work for the grilling; American is just extremely weak cheddar.

Kraft Singles or anything else labeled "Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product" or "Cheese Food" is not true American cheese. True American cheese ("Pasteurized Process American Cheese" which is around 97% cheese and 3% other) is stuff like Kraft Deli Deluxe in the regular cheese aisle or Boar's Head and Land O' Lakes from the deli counter.

Its literally cheddar with milk [powder] / water / butter and a couple food safe chemicals that are used in tons of stuff as bonding agents to let the cheese absorb the liquid.

This. I only buy the deli sliced kind and keep it in cheese bags.

I prefer American for burgers and grilled cheese, and Velveeta for making Mac m cheese (its at least better than using pure cheddar texture wise).

It wouldn't be inedible but YMMV I'd definitely take a craft single over mascarpone in nearly anything. You have to mix mascarpone with sugar to make it not taste awful. In tiramisu specifically the creamy mixture is made with sugar, egg yolks, and cognac blended together with the mascarpone.

Just saw a YouTube ad with him just this morning making a burger but
He put a few centimeters worth of butter(of a stick) and about half a spoon of cooking oil for a damn 3/4 pounder (at least looked like one)

Guess he loves seasoning cause he put a LOT of it on there and then a good sprinkle on the lettuce

the onions were screaming for help in the oil same time

I legit *blehh* thinking how it turned out

i know he is a professional chef but I wouldnt cook my burger like that for someone who really needs to eat.

It isn't in demand in other countries. It doesn't "exist" anyway. American cheese is just different cheeses combined. A true American cheese would be something like Monterey Jack.

I get American cheese on most everything with cheese options (not the plastic Kraft kind). Cheddar I'll get too, which is equally great, but less often. Provolone is good for a few bites, but I could never finish a hoagie with provolone on it.

I've tried a lot of cheeses and enjoy most, but American has remained at the top for me.

This really isn't a gotcha. The base cheese used is low quality, and the process lowers that quality (for most applications). It's a very specifically good-for-grilled-cheese kinda thing.

I recognize it's a lame hill to die on, but I hate when people crow that it's "not really cheese" or that it's all the lowest quality shit. Get some deluxe deli slices or whatever and it's noticeably better than the individually wrapped crud that made Homer go blind. And yeah, it's not good for much other than burgers and grilled cheese, but it positively excels at those.
