WB refused all offers and wouldn't allow counter offers. I 100% bet that they "put it up for sale" so that the backlash would let up, and it did.

I think the film would have eulogized the Road Runner cartoons. How could you make new shorts about Wile E. Coyote using Acme products to try and catch the Road Runner after making a movie about a lawsuit? Even if they were in different continuities, I think people would be looking at it like it was a settled dispute.

That said, the whole notion of a tax write-off on a movie is terrible. It's literally charging people for a film they're never going to see because that money comes from tax-payers. I agree with the people in the other topic who said that, if you're going to label a property as a write-off, it should automatically be released to the public domain.

Even then, it's still bullshit to think that you deserve money because you wrote film that isn't likely to perform well at the box office. But, at the very least, they should not be able to shelve it and make money off of it.

It probably didn't show up in search for them. It doesn't come up for me when I search for it.

Because uncertainty is scarier and riskier than getting a short term gain with a tax write off. They don't even know if this movie will even generate them any money.

They've made CGI ones. I'm not saying they're as good as the old ones. But they're still there.

They should keep that door open. Speedy Gonzales, Pepe Le Pew, and Wile E. Coyote were more entertaining than Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, and Daffy Duck.

Speedy is doing alright. (I think.)
But Pepe has been cancelled.
Let's not burn the bridge for Wile E. Coyote too.

Fair enough. I guess success of the movie would lead to new demand

Did Space Jam result in any new cartoons?

Space Jam was more for promoting merch than it was reviving the old Looney Tunes. Warner Bros. cartoons at the time were focused on new IPs like Animaniacs and Freakazoid.

The next time Looney Tunes would be revived would be Loonatics Unleashed, which had nothing to do with Space Jam...or the classic characters for that matter.
