It's not surprising to me that you are struggling to figure out what to write. I was pretty speechless and had trouble finding the words to express what I was feeling as the credits ended, too.

I finished the game over a year ago and I still really can't get my thoughts on it down properly.

My fav line of thought with the ending is focusing on the pods and what their role in all this is because they are closest to the avatar of the player & humanity in general

Is there anything dangerous about getting a guide to find best places for getting materials to upgrade the rest of the stuff? Like, is there anything left to be spoiled about?

Nah, you're good.

Upgrading everything is pretty expensive and/or grindy.

I'm down to only missing one ending now.

I just bought a lot of the trophies for that lol

Money isn't really much of an issue, in particular if you are connected to the network and loot player bodies, and you can buy most materials somewhere. It doesn't seem like a huge pain.

I also need to fish a bit lol, that's by far the Intel I'm missing the most of, but you seem to only need 20 different fish for the trophy which I'm close to.

For some reason I also only have 98% of tutorial intelligence despite finishing the game.

Also deleting a save file is stronger if the whole alphabet is there imo. Can't leave out only Y.

My plan was to level up to defeating apparent super boss which also has the only ending I'm missing if you lose to it and should also be the only missable thing in the game. After that I'll probably look at what the rest of the tropihes are and see if it seems worth it, but I do want to beat that boss. I'm missing a small handful of trophies at this point, among them collecting 20 fish lol.

Platinum has been achieved now. I needed a guide for some of them, also whatever discovering 2B secret 10 times and playing as 9S in a certain state meant. The former I had to look up even after attempting so that became the final trophy. Fully upgrading everything was the biggest drag because of a very few materials.

I'm not quite at 100% despite platinum. I have 98% archives, 95% unit data (just enough to get all side quests done) and 48% fishing encyclopedia. I have absolutely no interest in the latter two. I guess I could get to 100% archive and then it is time to bid farewell to the save file.

Okay I already got 100% of archives. Looked up what I missed, just a single chest.

Well then, it is time.

Yeah but I didn't want to. I did consider it for the fish I'll admit, but I wanted to beat those large Emil heads anyway and that basically requires 100% to get.

It did take a while but almost all materials could be bought or naturally found. I needed to "farm" 4 pure water, 2 memory alloys, and 2 of the more obscure unit data things. That was all alright and didn't take too long.

The pain was getting 20 fish and this might just be me, I had like 14 by the time the game ending and weren't very lucky I feel. For playing as 9S for an hour after detonation I just went out while he stod still. Looking up 2Bs skirt 10 times I had to look up, but it took like 1 minute 2 tops once I learned what made it count. Then I looked up what single chest of archive I was missing.

I'd say it is worth it. Especially because it makes the final action all the better once the safe file had all that as well.

And damn deleting all that hit hard. Incredible by all means. 60 hours of progression (well probably a lot less because I tend to leave it turned on) thrown out to help others. So simple yet so strong.

I am very happy I got this experience.

Old man Nier is superior to bishounen Nier, but other than that, the game is identical (plus I'm sure they added new content to Replicant).

I will play at some point but not right away. First of all Rebirth is out in a few days. But I also just want to let this sink in for a bit.

There are two different versions of the main character. One is the father of a child and the other is her brother. Both versions released in Japan, but only the one with Papa Nier released in the west originally. Replicant features Brother Nier.

Even as a certified Papa Nier shill, I would never recommend the original over Replicant. Too many general improvements.

Some stuff, but it's not the biggest deal honestly. There's a lot of other stuff going on in Nier 1.

Agreed Papa Nier is better (even with the weird face underwear) but Replicant has waaaaaaaaaaay too many improvements to ever consider the original version.

There are major spoilers for the original in Automata BUT you might not realize them when playing through and also it doesn't spoil everything. Its worth playing either way.

Yeah, the connection between the two games is relatively loose because I'm sure they expected Automata to be an entry point for a lot of people. It'll still be a wild experience.

Again, I will want to be a little while before starting, I'm still thinking a lot about this one. Maybe after Rebirth feels fine, otherwise probably a couple of months or something.

Automata goes way farther in theme than Replicant so you might be spoiled in the sense that the impact is lower. But I think it's still good. And the writing is awesome.
