Sony tried at the wrong time, Nintendo has done it sucessfully. I think with a focus on BC and new games like what the Switch offers it would be successful. So for instance someone who was a 360 player but moved to ps after the XB1 fisasco. Is now in the PS garden will be unlikely to either go buy a XSX or dump a PS5 to play just a handful of games. A good analogy is MS shot a hole in their boat and no one eants to board a sinking ship. They have tried to patch the hole but water keeps getting in. The only option is to take the ship to drydock and make repairs. Take too long they risk losing the whole thing.
