To each their own. I have my own moment where it jumped the shark. Homer vs Dignity. Panda. That's all.

Episodes where Kang & Kodos appear are non-canon.

That's easily one of the worst things they've ever done.

That was frickin' terrible. I remember an article back when it was first aired that had the same sentiment that it ruined the Simpsons for the article's writer.

Is that the episode where Homer gets fucked by a Panda?

I have no idea what the panda thing is. The fake skinner moment was dumb, but overall that episode was still funny and I don't think that's when it jumped the shark exactly. I'll admit when Homer just stopped going to work and came up with all these different side hustles/schemes to make money was getting dumb though. I was losing interest.

Yeah, the Armin Tamzarian episode isn't that bad. I know people hate what it does to canon but the episode itself is funny.

If I had to pick one other than the Panda one I really hate it would be the episode where Homer frames Marge for drunk driving so that the won't lose his license. I think that goes too far even for Homer and I don't remember the episode even having many good jokes to redeem it.

The awkward teen seasons are definitely the worst Simpsons - they sort of lost their identity from the 90s to stuff like South Park or Family Guy, and were really struggling to find a new identity.

I'd also say the one where Marge r***s Homer as a bad episode from around this time.

I had to look it up, if this is about the episode "Gump Roast" with them in it then you might be right.

It was two episodes later when "The Sweetest Apu" just sort of ended with Homer hopping back on the ladder that I started turning on the show. Still watched the following season but stopped at the season 15 Halloween special.

I thought you were talking about the one where they went to another planet and didn't go back home at the end of the show. That was pretty stupid.

I like The Principal and the Pauper. I think Saddlesore Galactica is the first episode I'd consider bad, followed by a bunch from that season.

Yeah, when people talk about The Simpsons getting bad it's mostly those teen seasons they're talking about. They really lost what made the show special around that time. They eventually got to a better place with the show but it took a while.

Thats nothing compared to the episode where Lisa makes a medicine that causes peoples eyes to pop out of their sockets.

That was the moment I gave up on the Simpsons.

The reason Homer is dumb and it's because he had a crayon stuck in his brain because he shoved several up his nose is such a funny episode actually. (S12E09). That was when I had already just stopped caring by that point.I just stopped bothering to put the Simpsons on TV anymore for current episodes somehow that one caught my attention and didn't slip by me.

I've seen way newer episodes that may illicit a chuckle but it often feels so damn soul less. Also it was only because I was at a friend's place and he'd just throw FXX on and they'd often be showing newer ones.

The Principal and the Pauper isn't actually a bad episode.

Considering the whole point of the Simpsons was making fun of established TV/cultural tropes, it made complete sense to do an episode like that.

The jokes all land in that episode tbh

I don't think most people consider the principal and the pauper a bad episode, I think it's just more frequently referenced as the episode that moved Simpsons away from a show about a relatively normal dysfunctional family that happened to be a cartoon to more silly and over the top plots.

Except Kang and Kodos are fun.

A safer shark jump character are celebrity cameos. Too many become gimmicky.
