Canada calling it "Kraft dinner" is pretty sus though.

It's Kraft. You can have it for dinner. It's mac and cheese. But it's not a dinner and a Kraft doesn't deserve credit beyond Easy Mac.

Yes.

Try this:
  1. Cook a pound of elbows in generously salted / oiled water.
  2. While theyre cooking, take a block of Velveeta and cut off a block about 4 long, then cut that block up into cubes on a plate or something, then cover in plastic wrap.
  3. Drain the elbows after theyre cooked, and put them back in the pot if you used a colander to do it.
  4. Pour in milk until you can see it coming up around the edge of the pot, then stir it all up. Pour more milk until you can see it around the edge again.
  5. Put the Velveeta cubes in.
  6. [Optional] Generously grind black pepper into it.
  7. Stir it all up and put the lid on the pot, and let it sit on Lo heat for 5 minutes or so.
  8. Stir to incorporate and finish melting the cheese.
Youll never tolerate boxed Velveeta Mac n cheese again after trying this.

My DIY instant mac & cheese powder is good.

If you want to make it too, heres how:
Combine 15g of cheddar cheese powder, 10g of butter powder, and 10g of milk powder. This will be enough for 100g of dry pasta.

Well, partially. None of it is real cheese, if that's what you mean. But some of it manages to taste like something instead of just being powdered food coloring like the Kraft krap.

Shredded cheese is better for flavor. Velveeta is just for melting fast and evenly.

Really? Lots of cheeses come wrapped in plastic. I call that specific cheese-based product plastic because of how fake it looks and tastes. 'Plastic' has been used as euphemism for a product exhibiting overtly fake or artificial properties, in general.

Yeah I cant find the story I read but these two food bloggers started an online movement to get kraft to remove the yellow dye from the product, which kraft fought at first, but they gave in and changed it fairly quickly in like 2013. Then in 2016 they changed the recipe due to complaining parents saying it wasnt organic or something so they changed the recipe again.

Not like that. Each slice is individually wrapped. It also isn't real cheese anyway.

if you're making the boxed stuff with a sauce packet, the directions are dog shit
prepare the sauce packet in a separate pan w/ a bit more milk and butter than the recipe calls for and reduce it until it thickens. then add it to the macaroni
or just use heavy cream and real cheese and make an actual cheese sauce. heavy cream won't scorch so you can be a bit more aggressive with the heat, but you have to stir constantly until it's reduced to your liking. and it's got to be served hot because real cheese wont stay liquid at room temps
