I wouldn't go that far. The early merge was still a twist-bloated mess.

That was an interesting challenge moment from Katurah. This feels like the season of mental health breakdowns.

Also, damn. Bruce losing sucks, especially since it just gives Austin even MORE power via safety while holding onto two idols.

They have one chance left to get Austin out before fire, unless Julie doesn't give the second idol back.

The one thing that makes me question tonight's outcome: the "Previously on..." segment showed Austin giving Julie one of his idols, despite that being completely irrelevant to the first hour of the season. I don't know why they'd do that with such an obvious elimination.

The guys' scene with the Top Gun music was one of the funniest things I've seen on this show in a while.

That challenge was pretty blah, except for Katurah losing it. And now she's suggesting voting out Julie. That may get her voted out. But the others really do need to get rid of a Reba...

I guess Katurah never watched the 20s seasons before?

How do you not just play an idol you have in your pocket when you know everyone has been gunning for you?

Kind of boring now that Reba is firmly in control, unless they finally start eating each other. Ehhhh.

More than that...one of the things I've said a couple times in the past (mainly focused on Tyler during the final 7 episode of WA). If you believe someone has an idol and there is a good chance that person plays that idol...I feel like you shouldn't be okay with being one of the votes on the idol-holder. Look at the vote breakdown: Austin/Dee/Drew voted Jake, meaning that if Bruce DID play his idol, it was Austin/Dee/Drew deciding the boot. Given a group of four potential back-up targets, I feel like they shouldn't have been so willing to risk themselves, just to flush Bruce's idol.

You make a calculated gamble. Different plans seemed like they were solidifying and from where Bruce was sitting it seemed like there was a halfway decent chance someone else was going with a plurality, in which case he could save his idol for the next round. And even if he played his idol and survived tonight, he pretty much had to immunity whore his way to the end and he knew it.

Honestly, I'd say this lost the game for all three of them, except that the edit went out of its way to portray this awful move as a good thing for Emily. Last time they did something like that was Erika's split vote plan that only worked because Danny made a terrible move, so I'm thinking this works out for Emily somehow.

Jeez, Rob & Cory use the Express Pass and Steve & Anna Leigh still get to the next task before them.

They're lucky that Rob & Corey used the Express Pass already, or they'd be looking at a penalty.

Really hoping Todd & Ashlie make a comeback here. It feels like the past five legs have all revolved around one team just falling SUPER far out of contention, and only one of them ended with an unexpected elimination.

God, Greg & John are so boringly competent.

Not looking good for Todd & Ashlie if they don't even have footage of them at the recycling place with Joel & Garret.

Are Joel & Garrett actually going to pull this off?

Without Rob & Corey there to stop them, they would've taken the bus to the subway station, when they were supposed to take the subway. I'm sure that's some sort of penalty.

Bruce is so bad, can't believe he lasted this long and blew it so hard. Emily et al played him really well, but this is literally the situation you've been waiting to use your idol.

This is proof really that personalities make the season. I know its a straight pagonging with an emily twist but ive found it pretty enjoyable anyway

Good luck helping foolmo understand this. He doesn't get it since he hasn't watched all that long. He thinks we should be watching for the GAME and the STRATEGY, and not for the human interaction, because he wasn't watching when the show was consistently better.

I am enjoying this season a hell of a lot more than the last four because the extra 30 minutes has granted us the character moments that were sorely missing. Constant strategy shit is forgettable. Stuff like the "Girls' Night" vs. "Guys' Night" set to Top Gun music are what this show is about.

Emily with her Sangria doing confessional will live rent free in my head.

The editing especially with the 90 min episodes has helped a ton this season too. If things start to shake up next episode due to rebas getting nervous then it could end up being a really strong season overall. But if it ends with reba as final 4 I don't think I can really say it was too great.

Yeah, I'm not nearly as high on this season as the rest of you. I'd only put it ahead of 43 as far as the new era goes. (I'm the guy who voted TAR in the poll, btw). I'm just not really enjoying this cast very much.

Also, I think this season is another example of just how stupid the fire making challenge is. If you have a group of four who all think they can beat each other (and given two of them are Dee and Drew, whose egos are so big that the thought of losing hasn't even crossed their mind, this is likely the case), they have no reason to ever turn on each other. Just go to four and let fire sort it out.

And me? I'm not high on TAR35. It's got a great cast and a decent route with some decent challenges but good gravy that show is better suited to hour-long episodes. 90-minute legs drag, not to mention it has killed the suspense of almost every boot so far (the Ian & Joe and Morgan & Lena boots were the only ones that weren't painfully obvious by like the halfway point of the episode) and it doesn't help that it's on so late.

The 90 minute episodes have nothing to do with the boots being obvious (and I'd argue the first three boots weren't obvious by the halfway point either), it's because these teams keep digging themselves into deep holes and only Rob & Corey and Steve & Anna Leigh have been able to dig themselves out of them in the two episodes you mentioned. 60 minute episodes wouldn't disguise the fact that Liam & Yeremi, Andrea & Malaina, Robbin & Chelsea, and Todd & Ashlie were hopelessly far behind and would never be able to catch up.

They would at least better be able to hide it. That they could at least partially mask the obviousness of the Bopper & Mark boot in TAR20 has me convinced they can add an ounce of suspense to any boot with the right editing.

Eh, that one was a special case since they went for the Fast Forward that leg. No amount of editing was going to be able to hide Andrea & Malaina's boot when they don't even have footage of them doing anything past the first Roadblock due to Phil coming out to the parade to eliminate them. Like the best they can do is stuff they did in this last episode is when they added doubt on whether Todd & Ashlie made the same train as everyone else, and even then there was no doubt because Todd & Ashlie were never in the same shot as any of the other three teams that were grouped up.

The editing has made it even more obvious and that's made TAR even duller. Their insistence on making every leg a "RACE TO THE FINISH" when it's anything but has gotten really, really old; only the most daft of people wouldn't have been able to pick up on it by now. And since they don't showcase culture like they used to, I no longer watch. There's no point in the show anymore. The cultural exposition that made the early days of the show click is mostly absent and the "race" isn't exciting at all.

I'm kinda surprised that it hasn't been canceled. The show ran out of steam years ago and aside from a flash in the pan season here and there (okay, 29 and 30 were two in a row) has been repetitively mediocre for quite some time.
