Things I like that the community likes:

Krookodile
Excadrill
Mammoswine
Heracross
Chandelure
Volcarona
Gen 1 trade evolutions

And I'm pretty sure almost all of those are mostly popular due to them being decent.

Those ones you named specifically I'm pretty sure are more popular for their design than anything else. Them being good competitively (except maybe Krookodile) certainly helps, but I think they're simply considered cool because they look cool.

Actually, I think most Pokemon fans probably have favorable opinions of the majority of Pokemon designs.

Huh every one of those Pokemon are great

Heracross and chandelure are a bit slow but still are potent threats.

Krookodile has great immunities, intimidate and moxie and I'm not sure if they let him have knock-off still?

Mammoswine is scary for its dual stab, you're not allowed to switch in on it lol.
