Lots of great shit that makes up for it but that fight is at the bottom of an infinitely long barrel.

And I'm not even replaying the game, I'm just remembered it based on hovering over a youtube video that happened to have them in it and my soul is filled with hate.

And it's weird because the Blackguard or whatever they're called, the black gargoyles bosses are some of my favourites in the game. This thing just doesn't work as a duo boss in any way that functions with the game's camera and shit.

It's a low point for gaming entirely.

That game was the culmination of everything I found bad about Froms titles anyway and a confirmation for me that other Soulslikes understood the genre way better. Started going downhill with Artorias DLC.

The Dark Souls 2 guy is up to his old tricks.

They got me to stop playing the game for a full year. I beat it earlier this year but I truly despised them. It wasn't even skillful, it was just a battle of attrition. There were so many times I beat both of them twice, ran out of everything, and the stupid joined health bar still had 40% more to go. Just absurd.

And this is with full Radahn armor, +10 Blasphemous sword and mimic tear. It was terrible.

They're not that bad lol

All of the double boss fights in Elden Ring suck ass, they just paired random bosses together or doubled up on the same boss

They were the hardest boss for me as well. My weapons were just too slow to hit them.

Yeah Elden Ring has a lot of DS2 in its dna unfortunately

It's actually kind of absurd how good he is. I used him in my last playthrough and he just tanks everything. Survived the entire Malenia fight with like half health left

I honestly don't think the game benefitted from being a big open world. "But it doesn't hold your hand with map markers! Environmental story telling!" Ok, I can get that in other games, even other Souls games. I don't see how it redefines the entire concept just because it's not assaulting your senses like a Ubisoft map.

How long has this game been out and people still don't understand the game is designed for the player to use Ashes. Not doing so is self gimping and making many bosses way harder than they need to be.

Nothing will compare to the dog shit that is the Elden Beast though. Except maybe the tree root dragon things you fight in tiny rooms

Ulcerated Tree Spirits are definitely up there for BS

Fuckling Elden Beast has Four King's hit box issues. That is my only gripe with him.

I dont remember that battle so it must have been easy for me.

The only boss I called BS on was the crucible knight duo. Those two were waaay stronger than any other boss relative to that point in the game by a landslide.

Theyre very tanky, have super high poise, hit like a truck, cover each others weaknesses and openings very well and are a hard challenge even 1v1.

It doesnt help the 2 are at the end of one of the most annoying dungeons in the game with a long run back to their gate if you die.

The game is a great teacher to learn how to cheese.

P sure those shitty gargoyles killed me more than Malenia ever did. I kept coming back to them at different points in the game to try to kill them again and just kept getting murdered. The fact that you can't really get a feel for the second guy's moves until you've knocked around the first for a while sucks. And once there are two of them, you'll never have a proper opening to counter the one in your face because the other one is gonna start spewing poison at you. And it's not just poison either, it's additional constant damage as well. And it'll cover an incredibly large area, so you'll almost certainly be poisoned and down half your health by the time you get out of it. Spirit ashes barely even help cuz they'll just stand in the poison and die after like thirty seconds.

If you could have used your horse to fight his annoying ass the fight wouldn't be as reviled. "Let me go on a cross country run to land a few hits on a boss before it runs away like a chicken again"

I had to google the fight this topic is about but I also remember that duo crucible knight fight being a load of bullshit, for all the reasons you mentioned.

I kind of thought they were easy, but I have been informed the boss was nerfed by the time I played the game, so maybe that's it.

It kind of goes with the territory I guess, though a lot of DS2 bosses puts a spoke in that theory.

My issue is that the camera doesn't handle having two bosses of this size in frame at the same time very well. At all. It's awful at it. In some bosses in the series that has been an issue before but the behavior of the AI of the enemies mitigate it. Notably the Demon in Pain and Demon from Below boss have them work in turns, one entering a more passive phase when the other powers up, or having different movesets and pacing to make up for it, like Smough and Ornstein.

The Valiant gargoyles though can just throw poison mist on the ground covering huge distances, with more difficult than usual to make out particle effects when they're not in vision. And not only does it do damage, it also minorly staggers you and they can do that whenever they want, even if they're not in focus, which is just an obnoxious experience aside from having to babysit the camera while fighting them and making sure one doesn't suddenly pop up close like a FNAF teddybear.

Yeah, this is "difficult", but it's not the most difficult thing in the game, and yet it is the worst thing in the game.

Sounds like bad design, but also it doesn't seem true as its' rarely a problem.

game is the goat but i fucking hate that fight
