See a wish does not have to be harmful to be bad. And the MC is already talking about judging wishes herself.

Why doesn't he give rejected wishes back?

I sure wonder if that foreshadows some mysterious motive?

If she returns the wishes she doesnt grant then people can see and comment on her process for what gets approved.

What makes this dude so sure what wishes are or aren't harmful? Why are we assuming he's a benevolent authority figure that's hoarding and granting wishes based on the objective good of Rosas and its people? He's right there saying he wipes away people memories and takes their shit, why am I taking him at his word that he's a good person?

I'm just glad they are giving us an over the top scenery chewing villain again. I have nothing against a twist villain or no villain at all but there's still room for an obvious villain.

It's pretty funny how people want to act smart over the trailers of this movie.

"Oh you can't grant anyone's wishes. That would be chaos! The bad guy is right!"

For one we don't know if there's established rules for these wishes to begin with. Even Genie has rules in Aladdin.

But like...isn't it obvious that the the journey of the heroine herself is that we should make our own wishes come true and that their kingdom being built around wishes is flawed?

Has media literacy got this low that people are believing that the premise given to them by a villain in a trailer is correct? Do people honestly think that the end goal of this movie is going to grant everyone's wishes and not remove the illusion of what they're living under?

Sounds very authoritarian and abusive. Hard disagree with the villain here.

This, like I think people are thinking way too hard about this.

Except the protagonist's argument isn't "you're not rendering services paid for!" it's "people need wishes for some vague reason except the bad ones"

also kind of hard to care about people forgetting "wishes". Who cares if some kid forgets he wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas? >_>

She directly said so people can pursue their dreams themselves. How is that vague? His response as to why he wont was vague. He seems to assume they wont try but that seems to be a guarantee to be wrong.

The movie is definitely going to deal with dreams and wishes more consequential than that.

Idk, if I wish my loved one didn't have leukemia, am I suddenly going to stop wanting them to not have leukemia just because I forgot that I asked some asshole in wizard cosplay? Anything big enough to be important isn't going to make any logical sense unless the story also involves personality changes and mind-wipes much wider in scope than the clip is implying. >_>

What does it hurt, and why is the one that gets to decide that the king? If I wish to become a baker instead of a dirt farmer is it a waste of time and harmful to the Kingdom of Rosas if I choose to pursue my dream despite the king wanting the kingdom to have more dirt farmers?

Which goes back to, are you just going to stop wanting to be more than a dirt farmer because one wish is sitting in the wizard's ball pit? Are your friends and loved ones not going to notice something is up when you keep visiting the wizard to have your career-path wishes granted only to come back forgetting that you even went? Do you just stop caring about baking altogether?

Nothing about this conflict, from its values to in-story logic, is compelling in any way lol.

I understand it perfectly. I'm just saying that the plot is fucking stupid and trying to place disproportionate value on something that doesn't matter lol. It has to bend over backwards to turn its premise into an actual problem.

I'll make a 90-minute animated film about a guy who's thirsty but is too lazy to pour a glass of water.

The premise is literally about an ancient magical kingdom ran by literal wishes. What part of that specifically is the stupid part? The part where the wish making didn't turn out to be what the people thought it was?

You could forget they had leukemia. If everyone forgot thatd really fucking suck. Go awhile untreated, rediscover the disease but the prognosis is way worse now. If just you forgot itd certainly strain the relationship and theyd you were an asshole but at least they wouldnt lose treatment time. Still though thats downright evil to do that to someone.

What makes you think the wizard feels curing leukemia is dangerous? He doesn't seem like that much of an asshole. I think if you came to him with "please cure my otherwise fatal disease" he'd probably do it.

How do you even know he would though? He literally says he altars people's memories all the time if they want what he doesn't want. He could just make that person forget they have leukemia or make them forget what cancer even is.

Also just FYI he doesn't say when he'll grant wishes as well.

According to the Wikipedia article which quotes a writer he doesn't even grant most wishes and hoards them like in the clip. He rules the kingdom by giving people false hope.

That literally shouldn't be a spoiler to anyone for a kids movie like this or a story about a dubious figure granting wishes but here we are.

Basic human desire.

"I'm tired of farming, I want to be a baker."
>wizard makes them forget to be a baker
>"I'm tired of farming, I want to be a fisherman
>wizard makes them forget they want to be a fisherman
"I'm tired of farming, I want to be a TikTok influencer

Etc etc

People don't focus the entirety of their life on a single desire. The world keeps turning and as you're exposed to more stimuli and inspiration you feel new desires for new opportunities.

So a person wants to be more than a farmer, do they just stop wanting to be anything else because one thing didn't work out? >_>

They aren't told when their wishes are granted. One of the characters listed is a 100 year old guy still waiting for his wish to come true.

It's almost surprising how some people can't tell Homelander or the Empire are the baduys, but then you get topics like this and it all makes sense. Some people are just very dense. Some people just refuse to see these sort of things, even when the villain is brow beating the teenage girl for over a minute with it.

It's one thing to say you don't like how the movie is turning out.

It's another to make nonsense hypotheticals that probably won't even be relevant in the full movie and acting like that's why it looks bad.
