What is the in a nutshell part of this tweet?

Is it just about the different ways the word disrupt can be used?

The fact that AI farms can only be profitable by stealing, and VCs are only interested in taking.

They wont because Anglosphere+Asia will could make international ip laws curb this.

Copyright is king in the west. AI developers have to hold that.

This is why AI in the state that we see it is going to flounder before 5 years are up. Too expensive to run, too expensive to train, and the existing models weren't trained in a way that will be seen as legal.

Yeah VCs are pretty much just all speculative gamblers. They got so much money they can risk 9 failures for every one success.

I'm not really sold on AI as some big new thing either. It's something that's been gradually getting better, but I doubt we'll have some giant explosion.

But their ability to take those risks and provide critical funding to entrepreneurs in early stages is something that makes the system special. Think about all the great companies that have been successful due to fund raising through VCs. The entire internet boom, the SAAS industry, so many biotechnology companies. You could go down a list of any decent sized company that was founded in the last 40 years that provides some service you enjoy and VC funding probably helped make it happen.

Is the take from some of you here that fund raising and private equity investment is somehow bad?

I mean, I get the OPs point now - venture bros are hypocritical yeah, but so what? They also play an important role in improving the world around us. Is their goal greed and money? Sure, good for them.

Their ability to take that risk is solely because they are filthy rich. It's not some special character trait that makes them better than everyone else. As far as critical thinking goes, yes some are experienced and can provide some needed knowledge for new start ups. On the other hand, as with executive meddling, just as often they screw up companies with their shit takes.

Pretty much. Then the big brains that would be frustrated or bought will work along side China in some workarounds, and then China will eat their progress
