Minus the constant terror and fear, those 6 months or so where everyone stayed in for the most part were pretty nice.

I got to play so many video games and avoid all social interactions. What a life that was

same here. I was overworked and constantly stressed before covid. Lockdown gave me a taste of how relaxing life could be, oddly

yea, plus the commute really sucks.

I don't have a car, so I can either take a train + bus, or I can Uber/Lyft.

luckily, I only have to be in the office twice a week (so far), but it still feels like a huge drain with just the commute.

There are certain things that were nice, and if I could have just been alone during the lockdowns that would have been fine, but being cooped up in the house with 3 very loud children isn't something I would want to repeat.

Though I do kind of wish the conference I have to go to for work next week could just be done online again, rather than having to drive downtown through heavy traffic for 3 days.

Working from home was great, really hate being back in the office. No car traffic when you were going places.

But... I did lose a girlfriend who had to go back to Romania during lockdowns and we broke up while trying long distance and I still am in many ways not over her so uhhhh wasn't a fan of that part.

It was amazing to see what happened with nature in just a few months of limited human interaction. Wildlife returned to areas it hadn't been seen at in decades, bodies of water became cleaner, CO2 levels dropped so much climate scientists had to rework climate change models...

We got to see what the world could be like if we limited our impact and then said "fuck it what has the planet ever done for me".

My job never shut down so I didn't get the long paid vacation that many people experienced.

I did like the lack of traffic and very few people in stores that were still open. It was also fun finding hand sanitizer in stock.

Fuck yeah, it was such a comfy time for me. Got closer to my family, finished my degree at home, got some dough on the mail, got to work on my game/movie backlog, when I did go out I loved how empty the streets and highways were. Hell, earth itself began healing as it dealt with less pollution.

Yes I know it was an overall horrible time for most but I personally got to experience life a very different way.

I was furloughed and I have to say, that yes, minus the fear and death, I missed the lockdowns. It was very peaceful at home and outside. I had food and stuff to last me during the lockdown and had literally no stress or worries because... there was nothing I had to do lol. No work and I hadn't started school at the time. There weren't any responsibilities. For 4 months I just had myself, and it was very therapeutic.

It also cannot be understated just how much the world changed with the absence of humans. The air was suddenly much cleaner, animals emerged onto the empty streets and other areas where animals normally wouldn't be because of humans. The world literally began to self-heal.

Many places were dead silent. Especially during the first weeks of lockdown when there was fear. It was almost like the opening of 28 Days Later outside. It was surreal...

Then we came back with a vengeance pumping out many times more pollution than ever before. All is peasants forced to go back to work for no other reason than to make the billionaires feel better after they had already made historic amounts of billions during the pandemic

There was nothing good for me during the bullshit ass fake lockdowns. Nobody ever stayed inside. My job was busier than fucking ever and I still had to go in. Everyone became a complete abject piece of shit during and after. It was all kinds of fucked up and I envy you that got to just stay home and not deal with the bullshit.

Yeah nostalgia is a weird way to put it, but there definitely was a unique element to everyone and their mother sitting inside talking about Tiger King and playing Warzone.

Wouldn't go back to it though. I go out too much.

It may come as a surprise to you but there are many, many people who got the chance to stay home/not work and not have any responsibilities for months. And they found it personally peaceful. It doesn't go deeper than that. Not a single person says the pandemic was good.

yeah I would not elect to do it again.

but I would advocate for a 2 week national vacation where everything shuts down and people get to have a collective mental health break.

any essential workers who work during that time get paid triple time and get their 2 weeks vacation a different time of year

Since Covid lockdowns, my life is actually more similar to what life was like in those lockdowns. My job changed to work from home and then hybrid and I end up working from home 4 or 5 days a week now. End up most weekends at home playing videogames and watching TV/movies.

So it's not that different to being in lockdown!

I miss the glorious sunshine we had in England during that first lockdown.
