Sure City has better boss fights (I mean fucking Zelda 2 has better boss fights than Asylym) and more of everything. Bigger map, more characters, more enemies, more attacks, more gadgets, more Riddler trophies.

But quality > quantity.

Asylum has amazing pacing, beautiful level design, great astmosphere. It feels like a cat and mouse game with horror elements as Batman is put to the ultimate test in Joker's deranged game.

City is still good but it just feels like Batman farting about for a lark. It's even established in the plot that he could leave the City at any time and just wanted to be there. Plus Protocal 10 is the dumbest fucking thing.

Not knocking City, it's a great game but Asylum was a masterpiece that redefined a whole genre of gaming. City was just "Oh you liked this? Well here's even more of it!"

Well we all liked the first 10 seasons of Simpsons too... But we didn't need 34.

Thats not really a hot take. Asylum often gets picked as the best entry in the series. Its my favorite one definitely. The whole series is good though. Even the non Rocksteady made Origins was damn good. It just didnt run as well.

It's an age thing. People who grew up with Asylum + City existing overwhelmingly go for City, but millennials typically only really grew up with the former (the last couple of years are young enough that City was a thing when they were a kid). Thus in a forum where most everyone is a millennial (or older) you will have it heavily skewed towards Asylum being better. Go to, say, Reddit or Youtube and you will basically see the inverse of the poll.
