I looked at all the bands I like that begin with A and two choices immediately appear:

Against Me! and American Football.

Against Me! is awesome, but the nod goes to American Football because their first ST album is one of the all time classics. I listen to AM! a lot more because albums like Searching For a Former Clarity are up there, but nothing as legendary as AF's one album(and the other two are alright as well).

Short though their existence was, I really liked Audioslave. They're probably my favorite "A" band, song for song.

Anthrax and Agent Orange also rate very highly with me.
