Saw yesterday:

Thread 1: Simple news article. No commentary. "Beheaded babies did exist". No one mentions this justified anything. Flood of comments of angry users saying "don't think this justifies blah blah"

Thread 2: Simple news article. No commentary. Grabbed from front page of reddit. Source the BBC. "Details of the deadly Hamas attack from their OWN body cameras". Same thing.
Someone even has the audacity to say the one who made the thread wasn't mad at Israel.

What is the deal? How can one report facts? Supposed to always put a disclaimer even if not commentary?

Stupidly Ive effectively been accused of supporting the genocide of Palestine and being sympathetic to the destruction of Israel by the same user within the space of a few hours. When I called them out on it they just blocked me.

I get what you mean about feeling the need to prefix every post for fear of being branded an advocate of wanting to see the destruction of Palestine or Israel depending on whatever talking point youre involved in at any one time. It is exhausting.

Ive see queer subreddits say youre a pro-Israel fascist if you dont walk around like this. Specifically the Dutch far left subreddit thinks like this, which is hilariously naive since even many innocent Muslims in Palestine would want your head on a stick.

I dont like how this conflict gets shoved in European political discussions constantly now. Im not even centrist in the discussion, but it shouldnt matter to us at all. I get why its important to the US with the Israel connection but for most of Europe this conflict is just as far removed as a random tribe war in Africa or the Muslim-Hindu struggles in India.

Im just not going to comment on it anymore. Theres only so many times someone can call you an apologist for genocide from behind the anonymity of a keyboard and then get modded for responding before you realize which opinion is the acceptable one around here.

At this point, the MODs should just ban the conversation. Otherwise this board could go the way of 261.
