I am frankly tired of waiting. I swore I would reread the books when it was announced, so I haven't reread them since like 2014

right before the Game of Thrones TV show reboot

I honestly use to believe it would be released before the TV show ended. Man was I wrong.

When will he start writing it is a better question.

About 8 months after never

Wait for the universe to end in heat death or a big crunch..... about 5 minutes before that happens, the book will come out

It'll come out about 6 months after people stop calling Martin to ask for interviews and stuff. Even over covid there was an article like twice a year where he was being interviewed for stuff. Stop calling for interviews. Stop inviting him to galas. Stop asking about the book. Stop getting him to write spin-offs or video games.

Completely shut him off from fame and that man will finish the book in a weekend.

Hes hard at work! (I know ive posted it before but its still applicable)

I honestly think it will come out within the next 2 years. However I legitimately think he will die before we ever get A Dream of Spring. Hes 75 now and doesnt look in the best of health.

Im going through the same shit with Patrick Rothfuss waiting on the 3rd and final book of the The Kingkiller Chronicle. Ironically BOTH of these series last book release was in 2011. The only difference is Rothfuss is on the final book as its a planned trilogy and hes currently 50 so will probably actually finish. And he says its mostly done.

If the freaking global pandemic couldnt stop him...

When the TV show royalties stop dumping piles if money outside his house.

If he couldnt buckle down and write it while the writers strike was going on, then you know itll never get down. Dude is like the dog from Up doesnt take much for him to get distracted by another project.

Winds of Winter is basically finished. Some version of it is going to be released eventually. Theres too much money on the line. Dream of Spring is the one thatll never release.
