I mean the well-mannered and nice thing to say is "you look good either or". If you must let them know their makeup is not good then prolly find a nicer way to say it.

Yeah, don't say it like that. Phrasing it like "you look beautiful without makeup" or "you don't even need makeup" will probably be better received.

When she doesn't have time to do her make up, it's the right thing to say.

When she has just spent an hour getting ready, it's the wrong thing to say.

Depends on the woman. She can take it to mean that she does all that hard work for nothing.

Damn girl you suck at doing makeup. Take that shit off you look better without it.

The makeup industry preys on young girls insecurity by telling them they're unattractive without it. Makeup eventually ruins your skin, which then requires you to purchase more to cover up the damage it does to it.

Unfortunately, by the time they reach young adulthood, you can't even tell some people this information without them lashing out against you.

"You look better without make up" is the (not so) sneaky version of "your make up makes you look worse".

And that include a lot of different meanings, mostly depending on the make up itself.

There is also the fact that many women don't put on makeup for you. Like I wear makeup mostly for me, because I like the way I look with makeup on. When people say that I look better without it without any sort of prompt, it's invalidating as hell.

That was my line of thinking as well. Some people wear makeup simply because it ties their look together, nothing more and nothing less. They just appreciate the aesthetic that it brings and if they want to put in the work to have that as part of their presentation then I probably would see such a comment as, in the very least, inconsiderate.

I think people need to stop putting pictures in ways to purposefuly support a narrative.

why not put a proper unbiased comparison picture. one picture was made to look worse than the other.

Yes, it implies that all the effort they just spent making themselves look better not only didn't help, but hurt.

Saying something more along the lines of, "you don't need it", or "you look great either way" is a lot better.

Unless you're making a very specific compliment (That dress looks great!) or something very general (You look really nice tonight) then maybe just refrain from making unrequested comments about a woman's appearance.

Lol this is very true. Look at how many guys claim to live the "natural look" and then post examples of women wearing light makeup.

There's a tactful way to say it, but the simple truth is people should STFU about what other people look like. If they ask you directly? That's the opportunity for tact, and of course it varies WILDLY by person.

There could maybe be room for an SO to suggest a natural/low makeup look, but it has to be done in just the right way or you run a real risk of being insulting.
