Yeah, it was a cute little game to play until Baldur's Gate 3 came out

I never think of it actually, I completely skipped it despite looking forward to it for a long time. Same with FF16. Disappointing summer for new releases IMO. Luckily I have a backlog a mile long.

I dunno, dude. Despite a poor start to the year, gaming (particularly RPGs) has had an awesome 2023.

Man it started out so good and went to shit so fast.

Garbage game.

I didn't play it, but it really plummeted after that update. My wife and her friends played it, and she said it may have been the worst balancing patch she had ever seen. They haven't played it since.

Played it for an hour in the beta and never touched it since. Kind of sad it got panned as it did regardless since I hold such love for the franchise.

Yeah I also played the beta but that was all I could muster. Just long enough to get to level 20 or whatever it was, and that felt like a slog. Just something about it, Idk. Diablo 2 never made me feel that way.

I remember laughing at it & shitting on how much blizzard would fuck it up. People were in denial until they started nerfing everything and fucking up the online only component, then all of a sudden tons of "why is Diablo IV so bad?!" Started popping up. Gamers are pathetic

I never understood how there were still blizzard fanboys. Activision killed blizzard so long ago and people still think blizzard is worth defending.

It's a pretty fun single player game where you go through the campaign a few times and try different classes. The end game is boring though

Have had like 100's of hours in D2, wasn't a huge fan of D3 but it was ok but D4 instantly just felt like some weird PoE-D3 crossover and didn't get any spark from it. I think I read afterwards that D2 was helmed by the guys at Blizzard North and D3 and D4 by the South team also in charge of WoW and it shows (WoW was great but just a different beast than D2).

Hard to forget that game since it symbolizes modern Blizzard so well. Well, that game and Overwatch 1.5....I mean 2.

i liked the campaign a lot and probably put in close to 100hrs trying all the characters, fully exploring the world, doing dungeons etc. but then you get to the end game and it kind of feels pointless, like grinding for the sake of it instead of to play in some cool new area or fight a special boss or whatever.

then you have the season thing, you can tell blizzard really wants you to play that instead of the eternal realm but it's the dumbest shit ever. i do not understand why someone would want to start over as a new character and have to level up on a schedule basically to unlock shit, and then you cant use your character in the next season. why is this a thing?

final nail in the coffin for me was the cash shop, you can tell they put all the coolest skins behind a paywall which is very lame because unlocking cool looking gear is another motivator to keep grinding.

really cool game IMO and I definitely got my moneys worth but it's mostly been untouched since i completed the campaign and realized this seasonal model is bullshit

The season stuff is fun, if you are not forced into them. It is weird how people are shocked about seasons. They existed since D2.

i didnt really play the other diablo games much, just bought 4 because it looked really cool. when you play though the campaign it gives you the impression this is going to be one of those MMO-lite type games like Destiny but instead you have to keep restarting your characters or whatever if you want to play the new content

Yeah. Had fun with the 200 hours I put in it. I'll give it another go in the winter.
