KFC quality tanked like 20+ years ago, so Chick Filet, Church's, Popeyes, etc could fill up the market with even moderately palatable food.

I used to love KFC. I haven't had it in years though. The closest one to me had shitty service and was always out of something (and this was well pre pandemic). Once they claimed to be out of chicken.

Haven't even tried to go to one in probably ten years

Especially Japan at Xmas. I legit had to explain that no, not every American eats it for Christmas dinner,so no one had to make a special effort to get it just for me. Good luck getting KFC at Xmas in Tokyo anyway. Preorders are booked by mid November.

I live in Australia. Look in Canberra, Sydney, Adelaide. Your top fried chicken place is still gonna be KFC. I'd bet the same is true for the other capital cities and smaller towns - I live in a small town with a KFC, McDonalds and Subway re: fast food.

I would try Popeyes, personally. If they tried to set up Chik-Fil-A I'd hope some bastard burned the fuckers to the ground.

Globally, KFC is stills on top. But even here the quality has been slipping and people are kinda repulsed by the brand. Someone got maggots in their chicken a couple years ago, that shit spreads. It's still popila, but no-one is challenging it.

I didnt ever see one in the three and a half decades I lived there.

even Popeye's and Church's have dipped in quality. good fast food fried chicken is hard to find. THIS IS NOT REGARDING RESTAURANTS THAT SPECIALIZE IN CHICKEN SANDWICHES OR CHICKEN WINGS!!!!

the good fried chicken shops are super expensive. Bonchon is good, but :C at paying $20 for a little bit of wings.

KFC has some dry ass chicken. All fast food chicken spots have taken a dip in quality but Popeye's is the best (especially the ones in southern Louisiana)

Massive in China. Popeyes opened back in 2020, died from COVID, but is coming back rebranded.

The owner certainly fucked up, but I think the company has changed a lot since that happened. They're also one of the best (maybe best) companies for minimum wage work. They've probably done more for LGBT+ youth than McDonald's has.

A while back they had these "Georgia Gold" and "Nashville Hot" tenders and they were actually pretty good, but now they're gone. The delicious popcorn chicken? Gone. The grilled chicken, which was actually really good? Gone.

Now, when I went back recently, they had some sandwiches, the usual original recipe, the tenders, and some nuggets, but there wasn't as much variety in the flavors.

KFC is so much bigger than Popeyes it's unbelievable.

Yeah I did actually like that georgia gold one.

I am ashamed to admit it, but the double down is probably my favorite thing they ever made. Every time I got it, it was a juicy chicken breast that had that good ratio of breading to meat.

Its for the best the double down stays a limited time thing......I really do believe a lot of people will kill themselves with that kind of unchecked power.

also they refuse to make anything gluten free has to be quite idiotic

even pizza chains like Pizza Hut and Dominos got on board

but KFC doesn't even make like a chicken salad with grilled chicken

KFCs still hits on occasion

Them changing their potato wedges was an awful awful decision

There are a lot more Popeye's locations in the US than I thought but comes nowhere near KFC internationally.
