False. Twitch\Youtube rapidly evolved the language by having 200,000 of people hear the same word used the same way and adopting the meaning instantly.

Invention is not what is important but popularization.
For twerking I don't know who did it and don't care.

For example someone says sus is from 1920s.

I am not saying that.
I am saying the reason Gen Z says sus is because they watched someone play amongus or their friends did and they started using it that way.

If some dude in 1990 used the word before that, it is irrelevant to the why of Gen Z using it. It is still thanks to Amongus.

It's not specifically Gen Z slang.

If your argument is that twitch contributes to the popularity of some slang terms, I agree.

If your argument is that these terms are specifically twitch terms, then I don't.

'Easier to say' is the reason for all shortened forms.

People have been abbreviating words long before Among Us.

Stan was used heavily online by Millennials in places that where hip-hop culture focused since the mid-late 2000s, it was only used as an insult though.

Zoomers started appropriating it a few years ago and made it mainstream while putting a more positive spin on it where people would call themselves Stans of certain individuals that they liked.

Term was not used in 2001.

It came from one of these streamers using it for everyone

https://theoutline.com/post/2425/when-stan-became-a-verb

Though Eminem gave the world the image of Stan, Nas showed the world how to put "stan" to work, having used it in his classic 2001 diss track Ether": "You a fan, a phony, a fake, a pussy, a Stan." His is the first recorded usage of "stan" as a label (and a pejorative one) for an obsessive fan rather than the name of the fan himself. From there "stan" slowly took off, and while the noun's pejorative meaning remains, the murderous intent it was originally associated with has nearly disappeared. Stans all over the world label themselves as such to express just how dedicated they are to a particular artist and their fandom.

Literally the first usage (outside of the actual song) was in 2001. That article goes on to say that it was added to the urbandictionary in 2008, well before stream culture took off. In fact, it predates Twitch by three years.

Ok. So let's be generous, and say that when Nas used it in 2001 to mean a fan he didn't actually mean it to be a fan and that's invalid. Let's go with the 2008 usage as the first one, because reasons.

It still predates twitch even being a thing by three full years. Not exactly "twitch talk", now is it?

A lot of these were definitely popular before streaming culture. I'm 32. I've literally joked with friends about "catching these hands" in middle school. I didn't even know what youtube was back then or if it even existed. And if it did exist, it definitely wasn't anywhere near as popular as it is today and was not mainstream.
