Knob Creek, for anyone who knows that stuff.

Fortunately, I don't have to have it straight because a friend of mine gave me a small bottle of bitters he and his husband made last time I was over their house for a party. Gotta get some simple syrup and then it's Old Fashioned...es.

Getting into Bourbon: Jack Daniels.

Mix with coca-cola or take shots.

Simple syrup is just sugar water. Equal parts sugar mixed with hot water till it dissolves completely.

when making an old fashioned, finish it off with a splash of water to make it a little less harsh.

also, heavy smoking helps. That's why they stereotypically go well together. People who can't taste shit and have leather tongues often enjoy a cigar and bourbon.

idk if you have Cougar Bourbon in America, but if you do, try it. It's a very sweet bourbon.

I will say every sip of bourbon was an assault on the taste buds and general mouth area lol.

Try bourbon cocktails. Like a Whiskey Sour, Whiskey Smash, Paper Plane, Kentucky Buck, a well made Old Fashioned etc

My favourite way to make an Old Fashioned is 1 barspoon of demerara sugar syrup, 2 - 3 dashes of Angostura bitters, 2oz of whatever Bourbon (I liked Elijah Craig).
Stir it over (preferably) one large, clear cube of ice and garnish it with a lemon and orange twist and maraschino cherry

There are many ways to make an Old fashioned so it really comes to your preference. Some people prefer to muddle a sugar cube with a dash of soda water rather than use syrup. The Wisconsin style is usually an abomination with muddles fruits and cherries at the bottom. Maybe avoid that one.

I love bourbon neat but its not for everyone. Ive always like bold assertive flavors.

Rowans Creek, or most anything from Willett, is good stuff
