More of the sheikhs shrine blue dungeon shit.

jesus Christ. So plain and boring. I remember OoT and MM having cool THEMED dungeons with cool boss fights and sequences. Now its just mini dungeons scattered across the fucking map with the same turquoise lighting and lame physics puzzles.If I wanted to play a puzzle game Id play portal.

played for an hour before I got bored. Would rather replay Majoras mask

The 4 main dungeons and their bosses are way more different from each other than the BOTW ones. There are also a boat load of cave mini dungeons that are built a lot more like mazes w/ tons of hidden rooms and secrets. Not really sure what else you could want.

sadly it seems those days are gone in zelda

i also enjoyed the plots the games use to have but that is also gone

Uh, no thanks. Dungeons like the Water temple and Eagle's tower can stay in the past.

The shrines are hit or miss but you can skip ones you don't want to bother with. I *would* like to see a few longer shrines mixed in with the simple ones. Breath of the Wild seemed to have more of those. I'm only halfway through ToTK though. Maybe less than half.

I enjoyed BotW and TotK but I think I've had enough of this "new formula".

I miss set-piece dungeons that had a dungeon item to find. And that let you explore more of the rest of the world once you got it.

I miss mini-bosses, map, compass, and boss key.

It does make me want to go back and play Oracle of Ages and Seasons and Link to the Past and just older Zelda games again.

I wish we could get more new other Zelda games, 2d and 3d, that aren't necessarily this new "open air" formula.

Or give us a new "open air" one that doesn't give you every tool from the get-go.

The feeling of progression has felt lacking. Heart containers and gear that let you survive hot/cold just doesn't feel the same as getting finding the hookshot, or iron boots, etc.

Bring back tools basically.

He's probably talking about horizontal growth, i.e. new abilities and things that change how you play the game and interact with the world. Which TotK does have; not as much as a 'traditional' Zelda game with Hookshots and Power Gloves, but at least more than BotW. A few things that come to mind are the Autobuild ability, the robot sage companion, and armor with certain abilities, such as the tunic that lets you last in the Gloom for a few seconds before taking damage.

korok seeds yay i can carry more trash weapons that will break after 2 swings

shrines just do what heart pieces use to do but make it take longer the puzzles are fine (if very tedious) but then you have to take them some where else just to get your heart container or stamina meter eupgrade

and the hidden items are just more weapons that will break

and with how massive the map is just makes it all take longer

i dont find running around a big open world fun

and as i said already its clear ppl like this so yes nintendo should keep doing it

im just sharing why I dont like it

While I would agree that greater visual variety in the shrine-likes is a needed move, I'm all for Zelda's new puzzle direction. Maybe with the caveat that maybe they could cut the number in half and make each of the remaining ones 2-3 times longer.

At least you can "fix" almost broken weapons. Also, you can pay that Goron to remove fused items without destroying them. The flexibility with weapons and encouragement to try new things made me not care so much about the durability system. At least we can all agree it's better than in Breath of the Wild.

You know what I *DO* hate about ToTK that BotW did better? Upgrading armor. Those damn fairies got greedy as now they want rupees AND materials. The quests to wake them up are also annoying. "I refuse to come out of my bud unless I hear a trumpet!". I mean, the little quest to take the musical troupe to the fairies is fine but couldn't Nintendo have came up with a better story as to why they are hiding in their flowers?

Yeah it's a big disappointment and I'm noticing now that the honeymoon phase is over more people are seeing how mediocre the game is. The closest " traditional dungeon" you encountered in the game is in the Gerudo area.

It's a terrible game having to grind to get shit so you can craft is worse than the weapon breaking and I don't even mind that at all. People then tell me "you should have glitched when you had the chance" newsflash if I have to take advantage of an exploit that wasn't supposed to be in the game in the first place then that means the game isn't fun

Honestly, to me, the entire quest line is "the dungeon". Take the zora one. You go from point A to B, you do a couple small puzzles, you get a quest item necessary to complete it, you fight a mini boss, you keep navigating through, you compete a bigger puzzle, you fight a boss, you finish.

I wholeheartedly agree.

100 hour open world games were fun when you only got one every 3-5 years, but when literally every AAA game is one, it just becomes tedious.

BotW was fun for 20-30 hours until the new wore off, then became more and more tedious and chorish until I completed it. And its still the only Zelda Ill probably never 100z because I cant be arsed to find another 450 Korok seeds to get a piece of paper with a picture of a turd on it.

Other than some standout sequences like Eventide Island and Hyrule Castle, BotW is very forgettable. I was hoping theyd reign some of the empty open world tedium in for TotK, but they seem to have doubled down on it.

Unfortunately, the lemmings love the new direction, so thats what Nintendo is going with, and Zelda is basically dead to me. I wouldnt mind if theyd put a B team on making new traditional 2D Zeldas as side projects or something.

I likes that they each looked different, but they were functionally the same as the divine beasts in terms of being dungeons. I wish we couldve gotten the map and compass types of dungeons or just more dungeons like BotWs hyrule castle.
