At the current moment not being employed is winning, but why is making minimum wage right behind it? Certain people rather this hypothetical person not have a job than to have a minimum wage job? Interesting

Minimum wage or lives at home, probably. Those usually indicate that something went really wrong between school and adulthood.

Everything is isn't that big of a deal.

For me, it's not really about money. It's about goal setting and accountability imo.

Obviously there are exceptions and unusual circumstances, but if you live in a major metro there is a dearth of jobs that are available for above minimum wage, and for a 1 or 2 years cert program you can find jobs that are $25-35ish

Again, there are always exceptions and extraordinary circumstances. And minimum wage jobs tend to be some of the most tiring/hardest working jobs out there, which can make it tough to accomplish things outside of work.

But man, by 30? Hopefully before 40? I would really hope that you've taken steps to improve your situation. I think some people just need a nudge or support though if they find themselves in this situation.

I think unemployed is totally fine though, it happens to everyone at some point and being a parent is important. Daycare is so crazy expensive that it's honestly financially viable for one parent to stay home at this point if one of the others can support that on one salary.

Im 35 and already on the downward slope (having peaked at 32). Thats pretty bad, but luckily Im through most of my life already so its not gonna be much longer!

My circumstance specifically isnt reflected by any of the poll options though.

Most if not all the poll options are just basic stereotypes. They can change massively with a qualifier, for example, unemployed and not looking for work versus unemployed because youre a stay at home parent.

And as always, those focused on virginity (to the point of using it as an insult) are mentally too young to be on this site.

I mentioned nothing about virginity, and in my previous post I acknowledged twice that there are extenuating circumstances for all of these options

When I was still a virgin in my mid 20s, I felt kind of incomplete as an adult. I wasn't spending every night crying over it but I could really spiral sometimes if I dwelled on it too much

I never lost faith in the fact I'd be able to get my life sorted finance wise with a bit of effort and persistence, but I'd truly started to doubt if I'd ever be able to connect with a woman on an intimate level. Luckily I managed to get a girlfriend just before the pandemic because maybe I'd have truly given up during 2020 as Australia had long strict lockdowns

As far as society or personally judging other people, being a virgin doesn't make me think any less of someone at all. But for someone actually experiencing it I remember it being a pretty serious obstacle

I see, I kinda agree. Being a virgin isnt even bad, alot of drama and problems come from hooking up or relationships.
I think society put this pressure on people to have to have sex. Then u realize that desire, doesnt go away after u lose ur virginity. It will come back again and again.

There are only 2 of those that are bad, and 1 of them could have reasons behind it(being unemployed, someone could be between jobs, injured, etc..)
the rest just sounds like it reflects more on the person judging them

Why are these 2 worse than having no job at all? What if he is a virgin? What difference does that make?

To me, there's a difference between being a stay at home Dad and being "unemployed".

In my opinion, Unemployed means you're actively looking for a job, but not finding/not qualified for the ones you're looking for.

You need multiples of those at once, tho.
"Mom's basement" is the worst of these, but rapidly becoming less so as generational housing makes a comeback.
